Hi all,

We have a team golf event lined up at De Vere Belton Woods on Sunday 22nd June.

This is an event we did last year against another amateur tour outfit and unfortunately, they have just withdrawn from the 'Ryder Cup' style match over two days.

So, we are looking for another team to play against, and as we tried to get something going against you guys last year, I thought I would drop it in to see if the GM forum could get a team of minimum 10 players ready for a battle of golf!

The format would be fourball matchplay on Sunday 22nd starting at 13:00 and singles matchplay starting at 09:00 on the Monday.

Package includes dinner and breakfast and based on two people sharing a room would be £120 per person.

Look forward to seeing whether it is a 'goer' or not!

Cheers and all the best,

Ben

This event also has GDScore Live Scoring.. real time scoring where you will be able to see who is up and down in all the matches on the course.. just to add to the drama and excitement of team golf!

Hi Alex,

We run a couple of amateur tours along with other golfing stuff, and last year we had a team golf event against another amateur tour. It is an event we put on against them and went down very well and up until this morning the rematch was on.

Team golf isn't something regular golfers get to play very often and everyone enjoyed it as it was different!

So we have a team lined up from our tours ready to take on a another team.

Yep, I am with you, I get what you do and I recall your posts earlier in the year or last year. I was trying to work out if this is done for another reason other than marketing?

Do you make a profit out of the above day? ie is the above what your product is?

We don't make anything on this event as we put it on as an 'extra' in our calendar as it is a good few days and something we like to play in also and it allows us to interact w!ith our 'tour players' outside the regular event we run!

We put a package together for our guys as we have sponsored stuff from our tour sponsors already (outfits etc). As a marketing tool, not really as we were playing a competitor from another part of the country!

The GDScore live scoring is a free extra we include to spice it for everyone also!

What's with the grilling? The guy is giving you an opportunity to partake in something, either you are up for it or you aren't. Does it matter whether he is making any money out of it or not? And if he is, these things take time and effort to organise.

Hardly a grilling, should I not ask questions? I was asking questions as I did not know the answers. If someone is just using the forum as a way to sell there product it has a slightly different spin for me.

It's a fair comment, I am not using this to sell a product, just seeing if the forum could arrange a team at short notice, that's all.

I have no problem if this breaks the rules and the moderators need to remove it.

Who inputs the score in ?

And who is it against ?

Each group has one device and they input the scores, the system then works out the leaderboard. It will show like the Ryder Cup leaderboard does on Sky, with one team being blue and one being red, so you will easily see who is up or down and how many 'points' the team has. This also produces a web leaderboard which can be posted on here for the forumers who can't play to see the live progress!

The match is against players from our amateur tours, we have our team already, because of the other team withdrawing this morning, i am just trying to find opposition so we don't have to pull the event!

So the leaderboard is also displayed on the device ?

Which amatuer tours are you talking about ? Are we talking Muldoon Tour etc

Yep that's correct. Each player will be able to see how their team is doing in the matchplay format.

We run the Norfolk and Surrey/Sussex Tours.

Ah right those tours - that's good then ( not the other ones ie TT and HDIDO etc )

Could be interested in this

I'm guessing that people input scores and check as they move onto the next tee ? Always worried that people concentrate too much on the devices ?

Excellent! Our tours only host players with official handicap certs, you can view our website and see all the returned scores from each event should you be interested and to see that 'banditry' scores do not come from our tours!!

As it is match play, the groups would enter a score each player after the hole and then this would automatically work out who won the hole and then produce the leaderboard...

Anyone else?

Unfortunately I can't play the match but having looked at your website it's very interesting and reasonable cost wise. THE GDScore looks great!
