Not the most exciting of subjects, over the last week I have received 3 different letters adjusting my tax code, each time by a minimal amount. Today I had a letter telling me they were not sure if I had over paid or under paid on my Tax, and I would be sent another letter informing of the outcome!! Has anyone else received letters over the last few days, or is it just me they have their beady eye on??? Not that i am worried (as he hurridley throws the last piece of clothing in his suitcase)

I have just been in touch with the tax man to claim for washing my uniform, only 65 a year but backdated for the last 5 years

makes you wonder how much we can claim for but dont know unless advised :(

hope you get a rebate and not an underpayment demand

As an ex-payroller (now there was a fascinating career) I can vouch that HMRC do try and make life hard. We use t regularly get notifications for the same people month after month and naturally month after month we'd be fielding calls from them asking why their salary doesn't match last months. They seem to be another that keep saying they are upgrading to newer equipment, cutting back logs etc and yet never seem to produce an end result

i work in as accoutant .... its common knowledge hmrc are trying to collect as much money as possible now the government have realised they havent got any,

For some reason a few weeks back I received a tax code giving me no personal allowance at all. After a phone call they kindly agreed to let me have my allowance back, and sent me another code. Not sure what triggered off the first code. perhaps they thought I wouldn't notice.:smirk:

ive heard about this... how do you need to go about this and what do i have to do to qualify?

if you wear a logo'd uniform then you are entitled to it, just ring up the hmrc and ask them, they will adjust your tax code and can backdate it upto 6 years

I'd be interested to find out if I am owed anything, I've been working 8 years and my tax code hasn't changed. I've been in 3 different jobs too. I hear all my friends getting tax rebates ect......But like a few here, knowing my luck I'd owe them money :(
