Due to government cuts on police funding we no longer have an active police station in the town despite it being heavily populated- we are served by Luton and Dunstable police stations

Because of this crime in the area has increased especially from a certain travelling community and certain “youths” on mopeds - they are mainly targeting works vans and tools with many tradesmen being robbed over the past couple of years

Well last night another van got robbed and this time the bloke chased them in his car but that chase ended up with the two “youths” on mopeds crashing and right now in hospital with one having a broken back and the other a bleed on the brain - the driver of the car has been arrested

Now of course the Facebook groups are wild right now with many posts trying to justify the person’s actions etc etc ( of which I disagree)

But because of Police cuts this was always going to happen- the police in our area get their budgets cut each year and can no longer provide the level of service required for our town , this is the start of it and I can see more people taking the law into their own hands as social mob rule grows

This sorry affair I’m happy to lay right at the feet of the Tory cuts over the last decade cuts as a consequence of the overspending

What are victims supposed to do when they don't get the support from the over stretched police service?
I dont agree with vigilanty actions, but you cannot blame someone when he has been robbed of the tools of his trade for which he uses to make his living by some low life who cant be bothered to do things proper and above board.

Every Police force has problems, and the vans being turned over is country wide. I had mine done when parked on my drive (fortunately they were disturbed and only got the spare wheel), but when they returned for a second bite they were welcomed by my beloved staffie, who took umbridge to their climbing over the 6ft garden fence at 2am and decided to let them know:) In instances like that, he did bite and yes it would have hurt.

Could the decade of cuts not be attributed to over spending prior to them coming into power?

Re your main point. If all he has done is follow them and not run em off the road then i'm not sure what will (OR CAN) happen to him. If someone attacks you in the street, you can use self defence. I see this no differently. If you act like a scum bag (steal etc) then whatever consequences ensue are directly down to you imo

We had an issue last year in the county where a young lad on a scooter was riding on his motorbike kicking wing mirrors off. A passer by chased him in his vehicle and used his vehicle as a weapon and smashed him into a van.
Facebook applauded the vigilante behaviour, and calls for the police to stand down on the search for the driver. I don’t recall anything happening after that.

Personally I was impressed.

Well seems the driver also crashed and caused the accident with the youths - he is also in hospital, a fire also happened and road closed all day. Some very serious injuries with one life threatening.

This sorry affair I'm happy to lay right at the feet of the thieving scrotes; don't nick the tools, they don't get chased. They are quite prepared to deprive honest working people of a living in order to fund their lifestyles. I can't condone ramming the scrotes but I understand it and have no sympathy for them.

As for blaming the Tories Phil, when did David Blunkett join the Tory Party? The rot was started when the PCSO's were deemed a suitable replacement for warranted officers.

For me its a very hard situation- yep robbery isn’t nice , especially for tradesmen at the moment and if this was two grown adults in the 20’s etc I guess i would feel different - but two kids lives potentially destroyed just feels a bit different. The day the police closed a couple years back was the day the trouble escalated , and since then the town just gets bigger- I’m hoping this whole incident makes the police commissioner sit up. I think this is going to be the start of vigilante incidents and people are going to get punished - the guys taking matters into their own hands

I mean in Gotham City in the United States they call up a specialist vigilante agent when they're in times of real trouble, by projecting a huge luminous emergency bat sign into the sky, and he comes rushing in. And so far that has worked. Is that something that should be encouraged?

Which certain travelling community are you blaming on this? The Irish Travellers or the Romany Gypsies? Or are you lumping them all together ? Both of these group are separate and recognised as distinct ethnic minority groups.

No wonder these groups don't like sending their children to school

Travelling ? Nah they don’t do much travelling in their static vans they have set up all around the area giving them a great base for their life of crime - slavery has been a big one for them here , that’s on top of the constant smashing and robbing the local stores plus many vans.

Maybe if they acted within the law more often they would become more accepted into the local area , maybe if their kids were robbing in all the local shops they would be more accepted - the ones surrounding the town in their various “static” vans. They are the scum of our local town - they have no respect for the local area and businesses

The ones that leave rubbish everywhere they go, rip off pensioners with scam building work, steal anything they can sell on, terrorise locals that complain about them, don't pay tax, dont send their children to school. You know the everyday travelling ethnic minority group 🙄
