So it seems the UK, France and USA have sent the Syrians and others a message. Were they right or wrong. Just seen Trumps message to the world and thought it was very well presented. Also thought if someone else had said it, it would of been recieved better. For the record I think they were right in bombing the targets.
Thoughts please.

I think someone else wrote the speech, too measured to have come from Trump. It is a shame we can't be like that more often.

As long as they stop there I think everyone can walk away, honours even and it won't escalate. I hope that is the case.

Yes, that is my reading of the situation.
Two desperate failing politicians playing silly brinkmanship politics.

May needs to get Parliament approval for any further action. She is in a minority government after all.

The whole thing is hypocritical.

Didn't UK firms supply chemical weapons to Assad in the first place? How about sanctions on firms who sell weapons to evil regimes?

And how come Trump and May didn't take any action in response to the Russians carpet bombing and killing thousands of innocent civilians?

The timing is also suspect, bombing these sites the day before independent experts were due to inspect them.

If it has any meaningful impact on Assad's actions then it was worth doing. If they were done mostly for the internal politics in the respective countries and to press the buttons of some voters then they would be mostly a waste of time. I am sure time will tell.

Definitely right to attack Syria and they should do it again (and some) if Assad doesn’t stop using chemical weapons against his own citizens.

I do not have a vote in the French elections.

Are you happy that May has taken the UK to the brink of a war with Russia without the support of parliament for her minority party?

And neither do you have a vote in the US elections...
Yet, you chose to include a pop at him in your tirade...

And, no one in their right mind can be 'happy' with any use of weaponry whatever the 'justification'...

The use of chemical weapons is obviously abhorrent but is is anymore abhorrent than the 500,000 of deaths cause by standard ordinance?

I get the need to really draw the line at bio or chemical weapons but it’s a bit late to worry about red lines being crossed when the country is literally in tatters.

I suppose the use of force and do not believe that may needed parliamentary backing. All that would of happened then would be the moronic Labour Party blocking it from the comfort of the shadow without offering a single viable solution.

Somthings seems not quite right about all this. Assad has by and large won the war so the decicidion to use Chemical weapons seems to be more about sticking fingers up at the West than a move to finish the war.

Putin is prodding and poking us at the minute. The second he was re-elected it’s like a plan to provoke was instantly put in place.

Worrying times. Worse still when you look at who the leaders in the West currently are. An absolute shower of self serving idiots.

Hey ho...

A very good post IMHO.

Hey ho...

Sadly half of the Labour MPs would have voted with the government just to undermine Corbyn.
