swing faults

Ive started to bring a few faults into my swing of late and was wondering, as there is a wealth of knowledge on here, if anyone could give me any pointers or drills to eliminate them.

1. During my backswing Ive began to lean and dip to the left which results in me normally hitting the ball fat. I also sometimes dip forward. I know I need to maintain my height during my swing (I think???).

2. I have also started to slide my hips during my downswing instead of rotating my hips.

Please please please if you can help me in anyway give me your advice. I really need it.

Have you been out with the video or just guessing?

Can you explain a little more on point 1 please? Sounds like a sort of reverse pivot thing to me.

Why can't you "slide" your hips (towards the target) on the downswing? Surely many good swings start with a bump to the front foot before the hips start rotating/firing?

1. I don't want to sound flippant, but concentrate on staying still.
When I first saw myself on video I was all over the place on my backswing. The thought I have in my head which 'seems' to help stop it, is to keep my legs (especially the right) as quiet as possible. They're probably not, but it's just a feeling.

2. I don't think hip slide is a bad thing, as long as you turn to get them out of the way of your swing as well.

Ive been told that I do it. On my backswing I sort of lean to the left rather tahn twisting. I think it may be called a reverse pivot. And as for the sliding of the hips Im doing that instead of rotating them round sometimes resulting in a slight slice.
I know what Im doing and its doing my head in not being able to stop it. :D

Don't worry you aren't alone. I'm going through a phase of a dancing (collapsing) left knee on the takeaway which is resulting in a slide and not a turn. I can do it if I focus but as I'm trying not to play with any swing thoughts at the moment its a bit of a quandry.

Set up well grounded with a bit of flex in each knee. Try and maintain that flex in the right knee during the whole backswing which helps you to load the right side and keeps good balance. From there unwind slowly, a little hip slide is ok but hips needs to rotate pretty early on the downswing.

I would say keep knees flexed and think SLOW for backswing and transition into downswing. Too quick and you'll throw the clubhead out or get bad timing at the strike.

The best drill for this is the old headcover in your right arm pit (if you are right handed), go to the range set up to the ball, with a woodcover under your right arm you will need to swing shorter initially to stop it falling out but you will soon be rotateing your body properly.

Ive read about this drill before. Wasnt aware it could help my condition.. I'll give it a go tomorrow and hopefully see some results.

Thanks everyone for the advice and comments
