Due to the lack of consistentcy and control of my new swing change i am changing back to my baseball style swing. I found out the dropping the club inside, just didnt work for me especially distance control. Since i ve changed back to my old swing everything is back and feel good scores are out there everytime im out on the course.

I thought if i changed to a more conventional swing it would be more consistent and maybe help lower my scores but i was wrong.

What are you trying to achieve Owen?

I don't know what a baseball style swing is, or are you just referring to the grip?

The problem with going back to something that is possibly flawed is that sooner or later, you run into exactly the same brick wall that was stopping you in the first place.

Did you change to more a 2 plane swing- upright on the way back then inside on the way down compared to a more rounded baseball style swing.

The thing is IMO is it takes a long time to change a swing and you have to get used to playing poorly at first but in a year or so it will come good and you will see proper results, suppose it all comes down to how low you want to go and off 7 you cant be too shabby

Im going to change my swing in the winter as ive still got a few more big comps coming up and still want a chance of winning. The only reason i was wanting to change my swing is because i get way too flat and leak everything out right or hook on a bad day. I am playing quite well at the moment so im just going to stick to it and change maybe at the end of September and get a lot of range practice.

Winter is your friend for swing changes. Courses shut or on temporary greens mean that a warm and friendly range and a good teacher will let you make the changes you want to make. Do what you feel is right for your game but make sure you stick with it even if it doesn't seem to be working, especially out on the course. A few (or many) bad rounds and lost balls are a small price to pay for a swing that will work for you.

Good luck

Is this what you mean by Baseball style?

Get through the season then sort it out.

I know a chap (37 y.o.) who's swung the club like this for 22 years. It's the worst swing (in a good player) I've ever seen.
He practices 6 days a week and refuses to take lessons. On a good day, he'll play to 2 or 3 gross, and on a bad day to 10.

Fix it while you can.
