Surrey golf tour major # 1 roll call.

Especially as I just shot a nett 65 (42 points) around Staverton Park this afternoon, destroying the awesomeness and Rob with my Mizzies ;)

As I was teeing up on the 18th, I was 3 over gross on the back 9

Meh, nett 65's are ten a penny.

I had one in 1984

Well, that didn't go to plan! :o

Good to see Fish again and meet Oddsocks for the first time.

Thanks for your company guys, and sorry for bailing early. I eventually got home at midnight!

I liked the course, but would definitely benefit from playing it a couple of times to put a score together.
having said that, I wonder if it would get a bit same-y as a home course.... An assortment of clubs other than driver off the tee then some sort of wedge to the green?
maybe the back 9 was different?

Glad you got back safe fella, was that all traffic or a case of a few stops?

The course got a bit more interesting on the back 9, the 12th and 18th were pretty special holes, 41 points won it which off 3/4's a find a touch high, but there were 2 lots of 41 and a 40.

Hopefully it won't be the last times our paths cross

Didn't feel so good so had to get off the road. Was 10:15 before I felt safe enough to drive again.

3 scores in the 40's out of 17 players is a bit special. We're they ones that had done well in previous events?

Yup they were all previous attendees that have seen hc cuts

Glad you go back safe old chap, sounds like pulling ovee was a wise move

A couple of pictures lifted from Golf Days UK and some I took of the course.

It was a rainy start, I think we all got caught out, especially me as I left Coventry at 22 degrees and solid blue skies only to arrive in pouring rain and no waterproofs! As such both Barry and I had to buy a couple of tops to keep dry :(

The Pyrford 3.jpg

Its a short but very testing course with more water than I've seen on a single course before! Many blind tee boxes and approach shots so course knowledge is everything.

I think Barry (Oddsocks) is taking this too seriously ;)

Not the most flattering photo, I now know why I also pulled this long par 3 slightly left, well we both did actually

Well run event, good food and beer, friendly clubhouse, well manicured course and good company, what more can you ask for :mmm:

I teed off (elsewhere) at 0750h in shorts and a tee shirt, and was in the middle of a thunderstorm (without lightning?) from the 5th until the 17th - and my bag is still wet now (it's been in the conservatory for 2 days drying out!) so I completely understand the caught out bit!

Sorry that the forum is letting so many others get these trousers - esp as Barry has clear designs on a pair  but there's plenty more rounds to go...

I'm sorry that I also let the side down. To be honest, I got back from my holiday's at 4pm on the Friday and also on the same day was my County Champs and a pro-am I'd been invited to play! Definitely wrong time to go abroad!

Am definitely aiming to be at the next major! Does anyone know if it's your best five that count to the end of year? Or if you play in 10 do you accumulate all the points? I'll probably be in 5 max so will need a good showing in them all either way.

BTW - you both look very fetching in your new tops!

Best 5 scores count and you must play at least 5 to be invited/qualify to the final, irrelevant of your position, which I think is a bit daft personally as you could finish in the top 15 and only have played 3, for example! I'm definitely going to play the next one at the end of the month.

Bitch :smirk:

Don't worry mr mackie, I had a eureka moment on the 18th and proceeded to shoot a gross 84 in very challenging conditions on Saturday including 2 trebles and a double on the card,..... Things are looking good and coming together, I'll win them dam trews next round....
