After reading the thread re. Bobmac and agreeing with all the positive comments for him, I'd like to add that his wit and great sense of humour has to be admired too.

It was very clear from some of the replies that a lot of blame was put on JustOne, which to my mind was completely unjustified. Anyone that knows James will see his sense of humour and banter is second to none.

Also many do not realise how James has helped many Forummers with his expertise, and although not PGA qualified is very well read and an expert in his own right on most things golf. Some he has helped with hours of his time and again as with Bob, no charge. I know of one example: Haplesshacker, when he travelled all the way to Southampton and helped Graham with his game for the best part of the day.

I don't know of anybody else that has James's passion, commitment and knowledge of the game, and his signature should be more noted: Something like - "I love to talk about Golf - even though I've not won a Major".

I've met James on several meets and he has come down to my club for a game. He spent over an hour after explaining S&T and his passion for it is amazing and he does get the concept through. He is a decent fellow. However, and it isn't unique to him, there are times when threads develop and points become totally entrenched. Bit like Gaza without the bombs dropping.

I'm all for healthy debate and heck even a bit of friendly rivalry but if a thread descends, it is time to step back. That said 99.9%T of the time James is a thoroughly likeable chap with funny dress sense old clubs and a biting sense of humour. Even HID liked him when they met at Woburn !!!!

I know he travelled up to Oddsocks range to give a fairly extensive lesson recently. I doubt it was worth the petrol money other than to see OS trying to take down light aircraft out of Biggin Hill in the fashion of the Battle of Britain!:rofl:

I do not think it was James arguing with Bob that got his back as much as people who quite clearly did not have a clue who insisted on arguing. At the end of the day there are a lot of people that are knowledgeable on here in different ways. Ethan for one has a lot of knowledge on equipment that he has obviously got through reading lots of product reviews and trawling through the internet. So there are some good people on here if we are going to start a list up.

This is what seems to happen, two people have a discussion, more jump in with ill informed or 'joking' comments that just inflame the situation. Be civil to folks and the forum is a better place for it.
Those that post the silly comments need to realise how they are being seen also.

Thanks for the kind words guys, whilst it's very much appreciated I'm really not looking for anyone's support. I come here because I choose to and one day when I choose not to, I'll be gone. I'd say that I'll keep posting as long as I enjoy it but that isn't necessarily true, for over 3 years I've been posting against a tide of doubt and criticism, snide remarks and rejection....so I'm not sure if 'enjoyment' really comes into it at all.

My inbox fills up like 'greased lightening' with people asking me to (albeit secretly) help them with their swing. I like that, I don't know if it makes any difference though as they probably duff 2 shots in a row then head off to find a different instructor... this is the way a golfers mind works.... but it makes me being here worthwhile to ME.
