Stupid game

I totally agree its the technique however a more forgiving iron may mask the really bad ones, like I said just a thought.

I don't think any sgi shovel will mask the fact that your weight during the swim is not in the correct place causing fats and thins (if that is the problem)

Can I ask you a serious question?

Do you not think you would benefit from a set of more GI irons? Just a thought

Excellent question. Without changing to a set, I don't know. But unfortunately I'm not in a position (financially) to change my irons, so I have to man up and learn to hit what I have consistently.

However, forgetting all that, my gut feeling is that it wouldn't. In the years (on and off) that I've played this game, I've had "GI" clubs (Lynx Parallax and then Black Cats which were two of the more forgiving irons in their heyday) and since progressing to the MP-57's (year and a half ago) I've not really struggled with my iron play (and never really have). The reason for my handicap staying relatively samey over the years is a.)Because I've never played or practiced regularly enough (until this last year) b.)being wild off the tee (Anyone here that's played with me can confirm this!!) c.)A woeful short game.

Now, hopefully c. is gradually improving and I feel more comfortable from 100 yards and in, I'm leaving less green side chips short and I don't stand over putts thinking "I'm going to miss this". a. similarly, is shorting itself out.

b. is still a work in progress but hopefully now having better tools for the job which will help stop the bad ones from being utterly destructive (realistically, there's going to be ones that still creep in, I can deal with that).

I've written last night off to a bad day at the range (with too many swing thoughts and trying to swing too quickly) and take solace in the fact my last handful of balls went well with the longest clubs in the bag. Two weeks ago I was hitting balls sweet as a nut with my irons (All my clubs infact) with little to no effort so I know it's in there. As Chris pointed out, no super GI club is going to stop me fatting or thinning shots. Just got to stop swinging like a total knob. :D

EDIT: Blimey, sorry about the long boring post!

After all that, you still didn't answer my question

I know, I realised whilst I was making a tea!

Erm..probably not until March. Costs me £90 to fill up my car and can't afford a lot of long journeys over the next few months.

I think we're up one weekend in Feb but it will literally be for about 18 hours
