Decided to go for the range tonight. Hit about 120 balls. Mostly fat or thin with my irons. Pushing everything right but ended up hitting my JPX's (all 3 of them) fairly well at the end with the last 18 balls.

So, might as well take all the irons out of the bag and use these three clubs then.:rolleyes:

ive had this before where ive gone to the range and not been able to hit anything. I found it was because i was getting that frustrated it was causing me to make bad shots.

Once i went away then went back with a more relaxed chilled out approach it was 100% better.

Sometimes we expect to much from ourselves and get worked up!!

Went to the range tonight. Very good session. Ironic as I've a lesson tomorrow and he's bound to change some of the stuff I was doing so well tonight. Confidence levels high though. Short game lesson booked for end of February and if that clicks then we are on for a very, very good year and the cuppeth will be positively overflowing

Its way too early for these mind games before Woburn. I've seen you play. Well I've seen you hit it many times and even straight twice

Firstly what were you doing hitting that many balls!! Quality is better than quantity. Cut the number down in half and give the shots some purpose, always have your V easy down for alignment and have a specific target. Also never hit more than 5 balls in quick succession. Also have a goal at the session, maybe to hit 5 in a row with a 6 iron that you struck well and felt as if they would of hit the green. This way you will build your confidence.

I don't get a loyalty card stamp if I don't by an XL bucket and I'm only 3 buckets away from a free round! :D

I do have specific targets to aim at and don't just mindlessly hit balls generally but I felt positive before I went tonight and came away feeling all but rejected, but I found a little bit of positivity in the fact that I hit 4 or 5 "fairway" drives with my driver.

Swing didn't feel comfortable at all for the most part, think I was trying to kill the ball (despite telling myself before I left to just take it easy and not try to force anything).

Hit a few new wedge shots into a 50 yard flag too.

Other than that, it was pretty gash.

Onwards and upwards!

Don't forget taht sometimes things just don't work.
YOu have a bad day, you drop things, you break things, you can't ht a golf ball properly....

One of life's little challenges....

Your lucky you got to the range.

Left work early today to hit the range myself only to get to the train station to find someone had jumped sending the trains into melt down - so got home late and in a foul mood - then read that my letter to the pro post was considered 'Arrogant'...... my night gets better and better.

Time to log off me thinks and read my new golf monthly.

It could always go the other way!! A month ago went to the range and hit everything really nice (for me!!) played the next day like I'd never even held a club!!

I assume 120 balls replicates the number of shots in your normal round Jon ?

I havent been to the range for 3 months.... too knackered, plus its always dark = after work my mind tells me to chill out in front of the sofa

The golf brain tells me to get my arse up and go, I open the front door, see its dark, feel the chill in the air and think 'sod that'

I am destined to be crap until summer. Just get up the range and enjoy it. take nothing from it as at the end of the day the body is tired and the mind can't fully concentrate

It's warm indoors and you have tea, telly and hob nobs....

Trick is don't go home first go straight to the range - easier said than done.

You won't be crap come summer..... it will all come good before you know it.
