So Stuart Broad has been fined 30% of his match fee for twice telling the umpire to "just get on with the game".I couldn't help but laugh when you consider what goes on in football matches.

Yup. Stamp on the slightest bit of dissension and then it will never grow. Allow them a length of string and it will start to move towards football and that must never happen. Well done the authorities.

He did kick the gound twice causing some damage each time just off the crease. Standards have to be maintained, so why not punish his petulance. However, his team mates who dropped the catch that caused his actions each time might consider helping him out;)

It's good the Cricket and Rugby have a level of discipline and respect. Football is a disgrace, no respect, expletives shouted at officials, violence and the people watching in the stands are not much better.

If I was reffing a game, I'd have the team managers and captains into my dressing room prior to the game and be telling them that if anyone other than the team captain approaches the ref after the whistle has been blown for a foul, those approaching will get yellow cards, if there are any expletives directed at the ref, the offender will be red carded. Absolute zero tolerance.
If they got petulant and tried to get everyone sent off to prove a point the game would get abandoned.

My brother in law once got me to ref his sunday league team. I did exactly what you mention above! Only took 2 yellow cards for them to get the message! I was a proper no nonsense ref! One lad got his leg broken in the game and there was outrage i didn't give a foul! It was a perfectly fair 50/50 and unfortunate for the lad.

I thought i was awesome, but i was never asked again....
