Just worked from London to Manchester. There's an awful lot of standing water and flooded waterways between rugby and oop north. Hopefully there's no more heavy rain, as there doesn't look a lot of places for it to go.

I lost two fence posts and two fence panels yesterday.
I cannot complain really they were 45 years old.
I have to thank the builders who put in oak posts and not pine.
Glad of a few hours of sunshine and no rain this afternoon to enable me to clear up the mess.

Yesterday was fine
Today had rain all day until 4 .. only bad bit was when the wind picked up for 2 hours and blew the rain mentally around

just come back from quick trip that brought us back through town and the flood plains for the river that runs through our town are as flooded as I have ever seen them - and the river itself is right at the limit of the widening and deepening done years ago to protect the low part of town against flooding. Not much more at all and it’s over - but the rain has stopped.

we have been manic in the fire service today. I just can't get my head round these brain dead morons that think "they'll make it" when driving through 2 to 3 ft of water. then want us to carry them to dry land to stop their feet getting wet
The course has suffered badly and the pond by the 18th green in danger of overflowing but aside from that all the local roads were fine and not too much tree damage to be seen. However travel a few miles towards Reading and the roads are flooded in places and there has been power cuts. Funny how a few miles can make a big difference

Popped into gym in Lincoln today after a trip to town. Car park was 80% closed off as it was flooded, the river that runs adjacent was spilling over the banks into it, never seen it so high its usually a good few feet down the river bank line. We're currently getting more rain and the winds picking up again

The flood plain building issue is certainly wrong but you can see a developer with ££ signs flashing in his eyes when they see one, planners shouldn't allow it but do under pressure from Govt.
Sort of typical of UK - shortage of houses so they look at what's cheapest to address the issue - flood plains allow quick easily serviced overcrowded estates- so they build on them saying what a great job they're doing then act surprised when the 'flood' plain floods down the line. Short sighted short term policy. Won't change.

Garden last night had area's of standing water and puddles, never seen that here in the time we have lived here,
all gone this morning, but been raining untill since Sat afternoon, untill a couple of hours ago, we are only a few hundred yards from the river ness, but not ever had any issue with flooding in 170 years the house has been here

To be fair, The Environment Agency are doing a lot of this but they are fighting other govt depts, budgets etc. I think they know what needs to be done, they just can't get it done quickly enough. They then get hammered when floods occur. Tough gig.

Not to bad here, lost about 4 slates, couple of pains of glass and son couldn't get back from girlfriends house last night due to roads flooded, sure he wasn't complaining.
So much sitting water on fields around here.
One of wifes friends had house flooded, feel for those that are currently without homes due to floods or have been flooded.

Indeed it is - and the A31 (the main route to Winchester from Guildford) between us and Alton was earlier closed both ways (may still be) as the flooding on the flood plain of the River Wey has spilled onto the road.
One of the issues is that the drainage ditches either side of that road are not kept clear as they used to be.
