I have taken on the challenge. anyone else having a go??

Go smoke free for the month and they reckon you have a good chance of sticking to it... currently using a patch..

In the past i have tried:

Gum
Patches
inhalers
hypnosis
Alan Carr book
Alan Carr follow up book
Alan Carr sessions x 3
cold turkey

I went 'cold turkey' on the 1st oct 2006 so it's 6 years today.

Good luck, if you really want to kick the habit, you can do it.

if your a 20 a day smoker, you could be saving upwards of £50 this month alone. Just think giving up completely could allow you to buy that new Driver for Christmas

And the rest! 20 Marlboro lights are about £7.50 i think. I have been on rollies for some time, but even then its about 75g per week, thats about £23 a week, still £92 ish a month! either way, its mental!!

20 a day habit will cost you around £2,500 a year, more than enough to pay your annual fees! :thup:

I was on 40+ a day and quit twice. The last time (Over 6 years now) was easier than the first time. Rather than pick a day and stop as before, I picked a date to be stopped by. I chose my 50th birthday and decided that I would be stopped by then. I began two months before my birthday thinking if I did relent I wouldn't have lost as I hadn't reached my date and would have time to start again. I used patches but found I had an allergy to them so did without. One month later I had my last cigarette and haven't smoked since although my partner still does.

Good luck to all who try, it isn't easy, but you will definately feel the benefit, both financially and physically.

Have you guys tried the E fags? I appreciate that they are not for all.

Swanny32 posted in June about them. My bootlegger had got unreliable so I was having to buy more UK smokes and dipised paying £7.50 plus for 20.

I got hold of an E fag and havent looked back. I still buy a pack of minature cigars if going to the pub but other than that, use the E fag all week. Refillable E fags are really cheap.
