I'm planning a stag do in Prague and was hoping for some suggestions of bars etc. to visit. Also any good jokes, games, challenges, forfeits for the stag to complete. I appreciate this is not everyone's ideal trip but it is what the stag wants so can we please avoid a moral discussion on Prague.

Many thanks

Has it already been booked?

I asked as I ( and my best mate) booked our stags through Chilli Sauce - they then provide you with a chaperone to make sure you don't get into too much trouble.

For the record, I went to Bratislava...... booze, ladies and guns....brilliant weekend.

As for pranks etc.... you just need to make him look an absolute prat, so really really loud fancy dress....anything that will get as much attention as possible. Oh and shots....lots and lots of shots.

Few years since I went but you should not be short of bars, The Old Town Square is as good as any place to start. There used to be a fantastic club called RC Bunkr or something like that, I stood next to Nick Cave at the bar there once, he was on his own so we had a chat. Bit surreal. But this was 20 odd years ago so I suspect it's now a titty bar.

It's a lovely place, just occasionally spoilt in the evenings at weekends by hoards of drunk male Brits on stag nights in fancy dress ;)

Another vote for Chillisauce. I booked my best mates stag to Berlin through there and it was epic. Our chaperone was awesome (and totally hot!).

Oh and since when did the stag get any say in where his stag do is taking place?!? :D Prague's a nice city and cheap but will be full of chavs. But you will have a decent time. If you're looking for culture, the castle and it's grounds is neat. And make sure you visit Wenceslas Square.

I personally loved the wooden shacks dotted around the city selling drinks from 9am onwards...this included 50p cans of Staropramen. Winner!

When are you going??

If it is between May & October (I think that's the racing season dates) you may be able to catch some horse racing here - http://www.velka-chuchle.cz/ From memory it's about £8 t0 get in and a £1 a jar and the racing is actually pretty decent. It's a 10 minute taxi ride away from town.

Bars? U Medvidku is a great boozer - I am actually staying here in May.http://www.umedvidku.cz/index.php/en Beer to die for and great food both at great prices.

Another is U Vejvodu which is just around the corner - Again serves great beer at great prices and good food.

Loads and loads and loads of good places to sup plus plenty 'after hours' clubs.;)

I have been loads and never seen the 'chavs' that has been spoken of to be honest.

Cracking city for a stag do!!

Lived in Prague for most of the 90s. Still go back a few times a year. There are loads of tourist type bars now as well as more traditional Czech ones. In the girly bars - be careful. You can end up very poor! A good tip is to make sure you sort a decent taxi number with your hotel - some of the independent guys are real cowboys - complete with six-shooters. Overall, the city is beautiful, the beer is fantastic - use a bit of common sense and you'll be OK. If you want a home base - Caffreys on Old Town Square is not a bad bet - or the James Joyce around the corner. Owned by bona fide Irish - they will make sure that you are OK. They are the most expensive places to drink though - so probably better for a full Irish breakfast and sharpener while planning the day than all night sessions.

Thanks for the replies. Any good suggestions of challenges/forfeits etc for stag to complete during the trip? I have no idea what to do

Get him on the absinthe as often as possible. He will make up his own games and forfeits. I went to Prague a few years back on a stag do, lovely city. The castle is a good walk but is worthwhile. We generally bar hopped and found plenty of great watering holes during the day. The nights were another level. Look out for midgets in suitcases :D

Thanks for the replies. Any good suggestions of challenges/forfeits etc for stag to complete during the trip? I have no idea what to do

the standard, stag has a list of tasks to complete, stupid stuff such as sing to a random girl, finish a random persons drink then buy them a new one etc etc, for each one left on the list at the end of the night he has to do a nominated drink, for each one complete everyone else has to have a drink that the stag nominates

get some trivia about the bride to be, at random times throughout the weekend you ask him questions, if he gets it wrong then he drinks, if he gets it right then everyone else does

Oh and one last one we did, get some customised beer mats or alternatively make some, give one to everyone.

if a drink is put down at any point during the weekend then it has to be on one of the custom beer mats, no matter where you are the mat goes with you. drink has to be downed by the owner if spotted at any point without the mat. We had one less beer mat than there was people so that made it a bit more interesting.

Remember when it just a few pence a pint there. Had a permanent headache for the 5 days we were there. Not that cheap anymore but at the side of most places still a good break, as been said loads of bars to choose from

I remember going to Plzen back in the day, home of the original Pilsner Urquell beer, and it was the equivalent of 15p a half litre, straight from the factory. Me and mate went out, had a meal and got ratted for about £2.00 between us. HAppy days.

Hi Matt,

Where you go in Prague depends on what you’re looking for. There are loads of authentic Czech pubs that dark wood and very welcoming from the cold at this time of the year that I would recommend if you’re after a sociable place to have a drink with friends.

If this is your thing then you might be interested in ‘Tank Pubs’ or what the Czechs call ‘tankovna’. These places serve beer completely fresh, and by that I mean its not flash boiled like pretty much all exported beer to pasteurise it (like milk). As such the flavour is more pure and refreshing (well as much as a beer can be).
There is a pub crawl called the Tankovna Trial which all have a traditional beer hall feel which might of interest. It can be found in the Prague Stag Do City guide at this address http://iamthebestman.co.uk/prague-stag-do-ideas-city-guide/ along with a lot of other venues that might be suitable for your stag party.

With regard to pranks, these can range from the straightforward dare to more elaborate set piece. Some ideas for the former include:
· The stag can only hop from one pub to the next
· Pants to be worn on the outside of his trousers
· The stag must wear shoes on his hands and clap to music for fifteen minutes
· Preach on a busy street corner for 15 minutes

For other ideas and forfeits check out http://iamthebestman.co.uk/stag-do-pranks-and-jokes/

Hope this helps,
Oliver
