Stack & Tilt.......those that do

Re: Stack & Tilt.......those that do

I have a question for you

David Leadbetter is regarded as having a method of how he wants people to swing a golf club but why do the swings of the players that have worked with him and his staff look different?

eg. Charles Howell compared to David Frost

Is this the patronising thread? If that's the case...

I'll let Sean Foley answer this one.....

'The most obvious difference between Stack and Tilt and Foley is that all the players taught by Plummer and Bennett swing very much alike.

Foley’s three highest-profile students (before Woods), Sean O’Hair, Hunter Mahan and Justin Rose, don’t swing anything alike.

“Stack and Tilt is one method of swinging,” Foley said. “If it’s such a great system, then why are people coming for a ‘watered-down version’ from me?”'

Re: Stack & Tilt.......those that do

I had 198 yards to carry over a lake and then had to quickly get the ball to check up and hold a tiny little green.
I tried to picture James's S&T swing and had a go and fatted my 4 iron 30 yards into the lake.
I gave up with it after that.

Re: Stack & Tilt.......those that do

I like the way foley thinks after reading some stuff by him. It is a watered down version but for me I like it more, you can still have your own swing but using some diff fundamentals you can improve your strike and consistency and for me it is good on the short clubs but not the driver or 3 wood.

Re: Stack & Tilt.......those that do

If you go to stack and tilt Homer, presumably you would have to find a new pro to teach you ? Feel sorry for your existing one, being made redundant just before Xmas :D

Hey it was only a joke, didn't mean to start another S & T argument. :D

So the TOP players in the world are looking towards a watered down version of stack and tilt? (Foley doesn't really teach 28 h/cappers down the local range).

Doesn't that speak volumes about understanding the fundamental moves of stack and tilt if the pros want to incorperate it into their swings?

As I said in a previous thread I use a watered down version myself as there is a couple of things I currently don't do for example: I don't abbreviate my follow though and I probably don't take the club inside the line quite as much as prescribed but that doesn't mean I wouldn't recommend those moves to other people, they can tweak the swing as much as they like to suit their game.

Having at least the fundamentals (even if watered down) clearly suits the pros so why not me, Dave, Phil and Bobby the 20 h/cap hacker?

Re: Stack & Tilt.......those that do

I like the truncated follow through, since stufing my back, that's all I can do.

And Dodger, last medal round I finished with a birdie, the arse is holding out, despite my advancing age of 45.

Flip knows how Leftie closes out at his advanced age. Presumably because he can only remember the last two holes....

At least you are still getting into contention. At the moment (mind you its been two months since the last comp) I've been happy to have some shots left to use on the back nine
