Hi, Does anyone know where I can find clear instructions on the stableford point system by handicap. I am hosting a charity golf day and need to know how to work out the scores for different handicaps. Thanks.

Check this out.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stableford

Basically, players 'get a shot- on the holes with Stroke Index (SI) up to and including their handcap. For those with handicap over 18, they get an additional shot on the holes with SI up to and including their handicap minus 18. So a 14 handicap would get a shot on holes with SI 1-14 and a 24 handicap would get 1 shot on all holes and a second on SIs 1-6.

So if the 14-capper scores a 6 in a par 5 with SI of 12, he scores '6 for 5' or nett Par, which is 2 points. Had it been SI 15, t would have only been 1 point.

If you have problems, there should be someone there with sufficient knowledge to help. In fact, it would probably be best to get someone to do the scoring - and someone else to check them - while you do your hosting. That's normally one of the busiest times for the host and scoring should be delegated - and it's rather desirable to get it right!
