St Georges Hill

That's taken directly from their website, might be a silly question but can you eat in the lounge?

:o:eek:

I think they do a very good scampi in the basket.

Beware the tichy wee short hole.

All the Beatles had a house there in the 1960's.
I have actually been inside George Harrisons old house.
It was owned by a Fulham director at the time. Nice but not exactly memorable, the outdoor swimming pool was fab though.

Played 27 holes and loved it. Tough course for sure, but very pretty and overall a great experience. They didnt have the carvery on the day I was there unfortunately.

I personally enjoyed all 3 9's. First and only time I have played more than 18 holes in a day, I was shattered

I'm actually discussing it with my mate whos a member @ Hayling at the moment. Up to 8 people it says.

Would you play the green or just 36 on the main holes?

As I've played all 27 already I would prefer to go red/blue twice which is the 'main' course but happy with any option.

... Cliff Richard  lives in the house with the tennis court to the left of the 4th fairway on the blue

He moved - to Sunningdale area. But that might not be for long after the BBC/Police chaos! Spends most of his time in Spain though.

As for the courses...Top notch! I'd recommend Red and Blue twice, unless that's too much of a slog. The Green is still pretty good, but the monstrous (and outrageous) houses overshadow the course at times!

I played it last year with my work's golf society. Bacon rolls, 18 holes, 3 course carvery lunch, 18 holes and sandwiches and chips for... wait for it... £95!
Loved the course. Felt like Sunningdale, but not quite as difficult. I'm going back again this year!!

Always enjoy playing at SGH. Lovely courses, have played all 3 but as others have said the Red & Blue are the best combination.
Most holes are memorable, a couple of weak ones though.
Most of the holes on the Red course are good, with the 2nd (long par 4) being a stand out hole.
3rd is a fairly nondescript par 3, and the 4th is a head scratching short par 4.
Two further good holes are then spoilt (for me) by a really "average" par 5, which is a little out of character when you take into account the rest of the course.
8th is a great par 3, and the 9th is all about the drive.
1st on the Blue is a tough par 4 too, again the drive is crucial. 2nd is a tiny little par 3 that could (could) be a card wrecker! I can't think of a "weak" hole on the Blue. They are all good.
I could be up for a road trip, depending the the date, although I think 36 would kill me round there nowadays!!
;););)

I try to play their silver trophy every year and its always a very special place. Only ever played red & blue.

The 1st hole is a weak opener for me - a blind 2nd shot to a green that is out of character from the rest, it being small and pretty flat.

The rest are wonderful holes with a lot of variety. If nit picking, the greens on 9 & 18 can be a bit Micky mouse when running really quick.

They gave changed 1st green now.

They have put in a new green on the first, short right. Not in play when I played this week, and I am not sure if it replaces the old one, or more likely a winter green.

The Blue doesn't have a weak hole, and if I was playing 27 holes I would play that nine twice alongside the Red. I think they have put in a new bunker at the front of the 4th on the Red, so it is an island green. I went straight in it, and it is deep.:( Seems they want you to hit five iron wedge, unless you can hit a high three wood 250 yards and stop it.:ooo: Agree with Smiffy re the par 5, not the most exciting hole, but the 8th is a stunning par 3, and they have really smartened up the crater at the front of the green which looks lovely.

Remember to hit more club than you think into 9 and 18, and keep the ball below the hole. Both greens slope as much as our 18th, but from the side rather than from front to back. Above the hole in the summer is dead.:(

Must admit I usually score well round St Georges Hill, as the fairways are wide, and the greens are large and usually quick. Clubhouse is stunning and it used to have a thatched roof.

Fantastic venue and a superb deal. Another who would forsake the Green to play the others. Mind you after lunch you may not feel like anything other than a lengthy afternoon nap. Quality venue and friendly to visitors
