So I've booked up to play St Georges Hill in April, seemed to good a deal to miss at £90 for 36 holes. I'm after some opinions, is this course as good as I have heard? Also we have the option of playing any mixture of the three 9 hole loops, is it worth playing all of them or are the red and blue loops far superior? Thanks.

i'm more interested to know where you got that deal??!?

GM played all 27 holes during our 2014 Trolley and DMD test and I loved every single one! Well worth playing the Green course too as this is by no means stuck on to make up the numbers and is a very good track in its own right.

Is it as good as they say? You don't get in the top 25 of our course rankings beating the likes of Walton Heath, North Berwick, Saunton, Formby and Royal Troon if you're average!

If it's a better course than North Berwick it must be exceptional and an absolute bargain at that price!!

It's a great experience.....Green not as good as the others, ( couple of weak holes) but it's OK.
Make sure you have the carvery.......one of the best around.....also they serve Isabelle wine from New Zealand...yummy!!

I've played all 27 holes many times and love the place. The clubhouse is also up there with the very best. One really small thing that I love about the place is that the warm up nets are sloped so after each shot the ball rolls back to your feet :D ( silly I know but just appeals to me)

The red and blue are the main 18 but don't miss out on the green loop, it also has some very good holes.

And where did you get this £90 deal from? I assume it's a winter offer so unfortunately the greens won't be at their very best.

ps....David Howell lives in the very impressive house to the right of the 4th tee on the red course and Cliff Richard  lives in the house with the tennis court to the left of the 4th fairway on the blue

Its £90 throughout March and April. The greens may not be at their very best but I'd assume in April they're still going to be pretty good.

Played SGH over 20 times and it is magnificent.

Personally, I wouldn't bother with the green loop. 36 on red and blue would be my preference.

Lunch is great, especially if you are served by the Scarlett Johannsen lookalike!

I would also recommend the Bovril mixed with sherry at the halfway hut if it is a chilly day.

I had heard that the Green whilst being very good was not as strong as the others. Also read a few of the tee shots are blind so thought it might be good to play the Red and Blue again in the afternoon when we'll know what line to try and pick.

Might be a pit pushed for time but hopefully will get to try the carvery. Out of interest is there a strict dress code in the dining room/bar?

Played there yesterday. One of my favourite courses, though it was a bit wet. Some holes like the first on the Blue don't drain as well as others. They were also doing a lot of work around the 3rd green on the blue, and are putting in a huge reservoir. Beware of tractors and diggers and wear ear muffs when playing that hole at the moment.;)

I personally would not bother with the green. It is no where near as good as the other two in my opinion A couple of good par 3's but some short quirky par 4's. Play the Blue twice and the Red.

John Lennon lived on the house left of the 9th Red. One with its own lake which I hooked into.:( Most of the new builds are awful. Huge monstrocities that should never have got planning permission. Arts and Crafts houses are stunning though.

It is only the dining room you need jacket, but not tie from memory. The St Georges Estate is huge and easy to get lost in.

CLUBHOUSE
Lounge: Golf clothing is permitted at any time, except for golf shoes.
Members' Bar & Shankland Room: Golf clothing and golf shoes are permitted at any time.
Dining Room: Smart casual clothing to include a jacket (no tie) may be worn at lunchtime - not shorts or golf shoes. Jacket and tie required for evening meal.

That's taken directly from their website, might be a silly question but can you eat in the lounge?
