Does anyone know when they announce if you've been successful in getting a tee time. We pitched in when it opened in Aug but haven't heard anything back...

I put my name in the ballot last year and got a response on the 28/10. Although I'm sure there was some earlier correspondence that suggested that was later than usual.

Just under a month now until I go up and play the Old on the 10th and New on the 11th November. Have my fingers crossed that the weather will be kind, but if it isn't then so be it as I am just looking forward to the whole St Andrews experience, from the golf to history of the place. Also will be fun finding out who we've been drawn with on the day - just hope they're good company!

Are mats enforced from November or do they take the weather into account?

I'm going to apply for the two day ballot but there won't be too many days left of the shoulder season.

To be honest playing off mats will be unfortunate, but ultimately won't spoil the enjoyment of the whole experience. Hopefully will be able to get away with playing one shot off the actual hallowed turf!!! ;) :D

Mega jealous!! I love the place. We had a good wander around on Sunday evening, after the Dunhill. A couple of beers in the pubs... just wow! What a place

Try to play it at the beginning of April, for just 3 days they play the course the wrong way round (1st tee to 17th green etc) the way it was originally designed fascinating.. We stumbled on it by accident, for my 60th my daughter bought me 3 rounds, 2 on the old course plus one other. We played Old modern way on Wednesday, The Jubilee Thursday and Old old way on Friday the Friday was my 61st birthday which was the soonest we could get it all booked up..

Cannot wait to be honest - wish I was going for longer! Getting train up from Kings Cross direct to Leuchars so should be in St Andrews around 4pm. Looking forward to a wander around town visiting a number of the drinking establishments and taking in the ambience!!

Im lucky i stay about a 20 min drive away and go there a lot its a fantastic place for a day out. If you like Indian Maisha is the best down the lane from The Central bar I'm sure you'll find it

Applied for the two day ballot on Sunday and with a bit of luck me and my mate have two spaces in the 12:40 tee tomorrow.

Really looking forward to the experience but I'm feeling nervous just now so know idea what it's going to be like standing on the first tee.

Going to head up and spend a bit of time at the range and then hopefully enjoy it as much as I can.

Any tips or suggestions?
