Spooky that this thread has just come up after 5 years. Back then I went for the Tivoli which gave me mostly trouble free motoring for all that time. Very comfy and loads of gadgets. My only real gripe was the road noise when travelling at speed on rough surfaces, deafening. Just got rid of it as the servicing was starting to become expensive, £308.00 for last one and parts prices were stupid. £98.53 for a set of genuine ssangyong front brake pads, and that is without fitting. Just got rid and now have a new Mazda CX-30 which I have for just one week.

Was the servicing expensive as it was needed to keep the 7yr warranty? I ask as I just checked kwik for a full service price and it's less than £200
Servicing was expensive in comparison with the cost of the car. I’m quite sure that was down to the dealer charging what they wanted, however spares prices were expensive and almost impossible to get from outside sources.
Her Tivoli was a lovely car(for its price) but the running/maintenance costs weren’t

What are your impressions of the CX-30 after having it for a while ? Am considering one myself but the wife is edging to the Volvo XC40 .
Any views are appreciated.

I've got the older XC60 (obviously bigger than the 40) and it's a great car for comfort and long journeys. The later updated Volvos are much nicer inside, a real step up in quality. I'm sure you wouldn't be disappointed with the XC40, I'd consider it a notch above the Mazda.

A friend has an XC40 and it is a very nice car, real quality. I also used to have an xc60, v60 before that, and the xc40 is steps ahead of it. Let's not pretend the prices of the Mazda and Volvo are similar so it comes down to is the extra worth it to you? If money is not a factor in the decision then I'd be all over the Volvo.

Only had it for a week and the longest journey so far was the first one when I did seven miles driving it home from the dealers. If you ha e kids I would go with the Volvo for the roomier cabin.
