Im quite simply amazed at the spin some of you get. When i hit my sand wedge and connect nicely, crunching the back with good swing speed, it will simply stop dead.
The other day I was playing a matchplay game and I hit my ball fairly well but my approach meant that I was firing over a bunker to the samllest part of the green.
My oppo mis-hit his and landed up on the fairway that ran alongside the fairway we were playing.
Bad Luck I said.
Not at all he replied, I've got a better shot in than you.
I am just happy when the ball goes close, spin or not, I am not consistant enough to rely on it, so I try to play as if it wont spin back, and am happy if it stops within 10 feet of landing. If I am honest a good proportion of my approach shots are short of the pin, so why would I want them to come back?
