Just tucking into a bowl of home made chicken and rice soup. Its champion if I do say so myself. Anyway the point of this thread is not to boast about my soup making skills which are pretty dam fine incase you wondered its actually to talk about the accompaniment for the soup.

Bread, toast and rolls are soooooooooooooooo yesterday. What you need is a good Scottish oatcake, the rougher the better in my opinion. Oatcakes and soup. Try it.

Had a nice homemade brocolli and stilton soup myself for dinner.

My soup making skills stink as much as the stilton, hence the wife made it :D

Ahhhhh Oatcakes now you're talking proper Stokie food, but with soup......... Nah

If you ever find a hard oatcake you could always use it as a place matt

Haha get you Bill!

Sadly I'm off bread.... 10 days down, once I have got hips again, game on!

Tomato soup, plenty of salt and half a sliced white loaf =heaven.
Alas, due to recent waist expansion, HIDs won't buy white anymore and I am restricted to one slice of something called wholemeal, I think she gets it from the floor of next doors rabbit hutch. Soup just ain't the same anymore.
:-(

Proper soup, same recipe as my grannies granny made.
Only trouble living doon here is getting a proper Hock, these Sassanachs cannae make soup.

The mention of soup brings a chill to me. One week before a golf break I had a "soup related accident", the results are here ....

...and now one for the not so squeamish ....

Basically I got distracted whilst pouring some into a bowl and the pics are the results. It wasn't particularly bad, losing the skin wasn't the hard bit it was a few days later when the dressing had to be removed every day, and it did sting for a while afterwards .... but I did win the golf break :)

Be careful out there !!!

wheaten hmmm as long as you put real butter on it !
bit of a side track but whats your favourite homemade soup recipes

chicken and rice or lentil are my favourites

Ouch, nasty one that.

Staying off white bread myself, so scrambled eggs with wheaten for me instead of toast lol
All bread is off limits for me at the moment, I dont like anything but white and read that brown breads are actually as bad if not worse fat wise.
Ive never eaten so much soup in years.
