Sorry folks..........

sick of hearing the "C" word already. Roll on summer.

Yep...went shopping for wedding anniversary card yesterday, shop full of xmas cards. Lots of folk stood there buying too... One woman in our office announced she's already finished her prezzie shopping and they are all wrapped too! Bleeding heck!

I got a number of presents bought already as well. Always something I see through the year that will be a good present

Some of us have to start thinking of Christmas this early - my church is dumping the traditional nativity service we have 2nd week in December in favour or something that actually reflects what the Christmas story is all about - and we are going to have it out front of our church which is on one of the main roads through our little town. Our idea being to take the actually meaning and message of Christmas out of the closed environment that is our church building to anyone passing who wants to stop for a moment, listen - and maybe join in. Very much looking forward to it. So lots of work for us to do to work out what it is we are actually going to do...and prepare for it.

Love Christmas - but not so keen on the commercialisation of it.

For me Christmas starts around the 20th of December and I refuse to get caught up in the hype before that.

The August kick off you see now is cynical commercialism at it's very worst. To slightly adapt a borrowed phrase from Billy Connolly

"Don't get involved as it only encourages them."

The huge commercial build up is not something I miss about the UK. Christmas will eventually kick in here but not until about 2-3 weeks beforehand

As it’s one of many religious festival days and there are plenty other important days to the point it’s not even the biggest event of the year for much of the population

Days like Eid, Dawali & Cavadee plus Chinese & Tamil festival days mean that Christmas, while still big, can’t dominate with its own three month commercial build up (just last week we had a festival day called Ganesh Chaturthi and end of next month is the Dawali festival of lights so it’s all about these days before Christmas gets any look-in to folks thoughts/shopping etc

I don't envy you guys hearing Slade in September

Plenty of shops starting to gear up now including the Range in Bracknell. Hate it. The leaves haven't changed and the clocks haven't gone forward. Nothing but gross commercialisation and wrong on many levels in my opinion
