Well, what an absolutely fantastic week-end. The course was set up immaculately, with the fastest greens I have ever putted on. Glorious sunshine for both days, and I've really caught the sun.
The main event on Saturday was a betterball Stableford played off 3/4 handicap, I was playing off 9 and my partner 10. We started off fairly well and were going great guns until the 8th, when with my partner out of the hole I managed to three putt from not too far away to only pick up one point on a par 4 where I wasn't shotting. We then proceeded to only pick up 3 points from the following 3 holes where we really should have done better. We finished the round on 39 points, and were knocked into 5th place on countback. 41 points won (brand new set of Cleveland clubs each from the pro shop) 40 points was second, and 39 points was 3rd & 4th. So all in all a great day, but could have been so much better. The day was rounded off by a great evening "do" in the clubhouse where far too much drink was consumed, and Bobby Davro entertained. Jeez, he was funny...haven't laughed so much in ages.
A few piccies of the day......

I have of course been in touch with the club captain and he is writing to you to demand all the prizes to be returned forthwith unless you bung him £300 to 'keep fings hush hush.
Dont want your reputation in tatters now do we? ;) ;) ;)
Anyway, not jealous here at all, bet you cant wait till next year. Any chance of an invite? :)

I'm confused.........

Bob posting ? Smiffy posting ? Playing off 9....cant be Bob.......but Bob comments half way down......:D :D :D

Course looks fantastic...... :D

I have no excuses!! The only thing I will say is that those piccies were taken yesterday during a friendly game with the brother of the guy who invited me, not during the competition. Sam (the wife) walked round with us and took a few snaps during the course of the day.
That piccie where I am in front of the markers was taken on the 11th (par 5) and I was sooo bloody knackered by then (36 holes in that heat) that I couldn't be arsed to re-peg it.
I'm normally very hot on where I tee it up from, in this instance it was just fatique.
The course, as Hywel says, is Bearwood Lakes near Reading. I love the place to bits.

Chris, its simple. I (Bob)was playing in place of him (Rob) who was giving lessons in Lincolnshire on the practice day.I spotted myself (Rob)'getting my feet wet' but of course tried to ignore it. Then Bob spotted it and posted it over the top of his post so it looked like my post interfering with his. As it turned out its amazing what you can do with camera angles and mirrors and dont always believe what Rob....or Bob? says and certainly not the image below from Google earth/street :)
