...it wouldn't have been possible
Sorry about the longish post (finished with a HC question) but I am absolutely elated with the round I've just played. I mean, elated.
Posted a Preston GC thread yesterday outlining my concern for tight fairways etc. Well I didn't think one jot about it and just got on with it in some challenging cross winds.
Ended up recording an 84 versus Par 71 (yellow SSS 70), my best score EVER. Coming home I shot +3 with the huuuuuge highlight of the round being a birdie on the SI 2 16th from the bunker, from around 20 yards away. Finished the last 4 holes with Par, Birdie, Par, Par. I hit all but 2 FIR and did not 3 putt once. My short game (greenside) was superb and ended up being less than 2ft away from the hole on 3 occasions. The only thing to be negative about would be the triple on the SI 1 and a 7 on a par 5 that I was in the middle of the fairway on, from the tee. But then again, I won't hole out from a bunker on SI 2 for birdie very often either!
Based on a previous thread on my potential handicap (23 and 19 were suggested) I've scored the stableford points up as 41 (20hc).
My question, to anyone who has followed my progress is; Even though my previous two scores on the same course were 86 versus 66 SSS's (with one triple) have I had a worldy or should I give myself a bit more credit than I should? I'm off to the play the course I've recorded two 86’s on tomorrow so hopefully, if I feel fresh can do today's round justice.
I'm buzzing, I'm really buzzing!
As for the course, yes, it was fantastic, challenging and the greens, despite having that 'sand thingy treatment', were still true and fast.
I'm still buzzing...even after writing that I'm buzzing...
