Has Now Found His Wedgie
Had a guest over from Japan at the weekend and took him for a round of golf at mine. I knew it was the monthly medal in the morning, but we went out about 14:10 after the medal had gone. There was a 4 ball in front of us, we were a 3 ball. The sign of things to come started on the first. We waited until they'd played their second shots and moved on before teeing off, as we walked to our balls for the second shot we could see that the fourball in front hadn't even made the green, we then had to wait for 5+ mins before they putted out every shot and moved on. We played in, finished the hole and walked through to the 2nd tee(par 3) to find that none of them were on the green, another 5 + minute wait. And so it continued. They were playing every shot, every putt and hunting every ball in the woods. I'm fine with this if they are playing in comp, but by the 4th hole they's already lost a hole on the group in front. It continued, every shot we were kept waiting, whilst they were looking for balls, it became very frustrating and they didn't once look back to call us through. By the 10th they were over two holes back on the next group. Initially we thought they were playing in the medal, but after a while we noticed them pick up on a couple of putts. We were able to touch base with them at 14 and asked them to step up the pace. At that point, the sky started to get dark and angry and eventually started raining at 16, at which point they picked up and walked off..... We played 17 but it was just nasty, thunder and lightning, so we had to give up too. Was so disappointed, I'd shot 36 on the back nine to the end of 17 and was having a great game, despite the lengthy waits every shot. When we got in, turns out we'd taken almost 4.5 hours to then. Which, in the scheme of things wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be but if they had had the courtesy to play us through anywhere between 4 and 15, we'd have finished about 30 mins before them, before the rain with a complete round. Just frustrated at the lack of manners....
