At my place we have a nice par three par on the 11th that the blokes have to play over, but the ladies do not. They cross over the bridge and play from a tee on the dry side, making it a really dull dull hole. Just a slight duff along the ground to guide the ball between two bunkers and you're on. I keep saying that the ladies tee should be on the other side of the river. It could be right at the front of the teeing area meaning a shot, albeit only about 20 meters, over water, making the hole much more interesting. The ladies arguement is that some can't / couldn't make the shot. This I cannot believe. 20 meters in the air from a raised tee????
I really think that this would make for a more interesting round for the ladies. Should I keep my nose out?

Leave them to it. It is their choice. Dabbling in the ladies section is a dangerous thing to do. As it happens I totally agree and I see similar situations on a lot of courses but most ladies sections hate perceived interference from the men. This has to come from other ladies.

Arf Arf snigger

edit: Agree though, you should heed the keep out notices, in my experience ladies are plenty vocal enough to bring up their own concerns

If the ladies are happy with the present layout and that money is free to use for other improvements why bother? I'm not in the slightest bothered about the ladies course apart from when during the winter one of our par 3s is often played from their tee and its a much better hole. Far too narrow a target from 190 wind against from the yellows and a pointless 240 par 4 off the whites. From 160 its an ok hole and from a nicer angle as well

What's it to you? Why do you care? I guess, if the better playing ladies like the challenge, they can tee up off the yellows.

Are they allowed to do this? Even during a general knock? The reason I asked the question as my wife plays, although not a member, and could do this shot no problem so would make the hole better.

Why wouldn't they? Presumably they are paying the same membership subscriptions

I occasionally have a knock from the reds if we are just playing for fun and can't be fussed with one of the longer walk backs

I say keep the tee but should drop the notion of "Ladies" tee.

If there is an option to have an extra tee on the hole put it where suggested for ladies competitions.

'Interfering' in Ladies section is fraught with danger!

Keep your nose out!

Let/encourage your wife (to) play from the Yellows on that hole!

Gender free tee's are becoming more and more commonplace, as such they will just be red, yellow, white, blue, black etc for the comps or knocks of the day, doing away with ladies and mens tee's as a description will mean anyone, even the men, could go off the red tee should they wish, bringing all kinds of new hazards and playing different clubs off the tee and into the green into play, variety is the spice of life, get rid of gender named tee's

Not sure our reds have a mens SSS yet but there is a set of blues in front of them that does, meant to go on the main scorecard too

Does it cost the club any money really to have the county out and rate a set of tees apart from just feeding and watering the team?
