There was a guy playing in the opposing team we played against in the M&N League using one.

He was telling all his mates how he hit it way better than his driver and that it was going miles etc.

He knobbed it 100 yards off the tee into the deep stuff on the left off the 1st tee

i play a relatively short tight course and the position of hazards makes two of the par 5's irons off the tee so i've used mine to replace my driver. i was after improved accuracy rather than distance off the tee and this does the job

partly because i now know i'm not trying to blooter it off the tee, i can just put a nice swing on it and find myself in position. a 3 wood could have done the job instead i suppose, but don't carry a 3 wood so there was a gap for the mini driver in the bag.

i never take a wood from the fairway so that wasn't a consideration

the big face instils confidence off the tee but does the opposite off the turf!
