I've just received an offer from SC to upgrade to a Touch device.

Anyone out there got one? Is it that much different? Is it worth upgrading?

Thanks for any comments/advice

I suppose it depends on how much you use it and what additional features the new one has, and if you can make use of them.

Fish can give you the details of the course mapping, but I imagine it will be the same distances no matter which skycaddie device you are using. I am sure the new touch is brilliant, but you need to ask yourself if whatever a touch can do that a SGXw can't is worth how ever much they are wanting from you.

The main and really only difference is the Bluetooth capability.

Most other golf GPS products with only preloaded course maps are and will be outdated before you buy them, especially with the amount of courses our team have ground mapped and updated over the last 3 months alone, you only have to follow me on Twitter to see all the new ditches, bunkers, lakes & ponds I've taken pictures of and changed and updated!

The Touch with its new Bluetooth wireless capabilities provides an easier access to the most reliable, most accurate, and more importantly up-to-date course maps in Europe without having to hook up a USB cable to your computer and having to Sync.

You can just use your mobile phone with our new SkyGolf 360 app (its free) to keep your favourite courses up-to-date with ease whilst enjoying the convenience of over 35,000 courses preloaded and ready to play.

Obviously if you wirlessley find any course when turning up to play you will get all the latest updates automatically anyway with the Touch but you need to download the course either by computer or Bluetooth to access the Inteligreen and some of the other features not to mention looking at it in HD and then add that course to "your course".

The Touch screen with its zoom facilities I think is also a huge improvement away from multiple buttons and menus.

Its far superior to anything else in the range if you want to use it to its fullest.

Thanks Fish.by the way the mobile phone app is not free, I would have to upgrade my licence from Birdie to Double Eagle at a cost of £15. I think that is outrageous - especially as I have had a SkyCaddie licence for 9 years and have bought 2 devices.

It should be free to existing users - don't you think?

The app s 100% free so I don't understand where or why your thinking you have to upgrade in some way, the app is a free download to your mobile phone, once loaded you can Bluetooth your Touch to it to update and download courses without having to sync through your computer, with a new Touch purchase I'm sure you get an automatic Eagle 1st year membership free currently also, but talk to customer support about that in the Live Chat area on the website, they'll confirm everything and what current deals are available as their sales based where-as I'm on the ground.

Is it possible to connect an SG5 to the mobile app through a wired connection to a mobile?

Haven't got a clue is the honest answer, far too techy for me, but again, for direct specific questions like that use the Live Chat Line on the website, the support line is very good.

OK, I have been on Live Chat and unfortunately you can't connect the SG5 direct by USB to the SkyGolf 360 App, which is a shame as I sometimes go abroad to play and don't know for certain which courses I will be playing. It would be good to be able to connect via mobile rather than taking a laptop with me.
