Just thought I would report on the excellent service I just received from Skycaddie.
2 weeks ago I was playing at my home club. We had just left the green and were walking to the next tee when a shout of 'fore' came from the group behind. I ducked and the ball bounced off the top of my trolley. I looked down and saw that it had actually landed on my skycaddie and smashed the screen.
I phoned skycaddie the next day and they then said they have an exchange program whereby they send you a completely re-furbished one for £69.95. They set up the collection of my broken one the next day by courrier - all included in the price - and my replacement was with me 6 days later. They had transferred all my settings to the new one and transferred my membership over to the new serial number.
There was a slight issue when I tried to connect it to the skycaddie website which was immediately sorted out by the online technical help person which is available 24/7.
It's an SG2.5 by the way.
So, although the product is not at the cheaper end of the market the customer support was excellent.
I tried it out yesterday and it works fine!

Apparently it is regarded as an 'accident' and unless the person agrees to compensate then it is very difficult to enforce. Having said that he did pay me half the repair cost.

Not sure that I agree with that, if incidents on the golf course are accidents then there would be no need for insurance. Certainly would have expected them to pay for the repair in full (or at least offer to)

Should the club not have a public liability insurance to cover this ?? if a member of the public pay entry to somewhere , that property is obliged to have public liability insurance , if not (ie public car parks) it has to be posted at point of entry & you can choose to enter or not .. i know there was or used to be something like if you are a member of a club you cannot claim off that clubs insurance. is that why individual insurance is required .. ?

I payed £29 for a years insurance, it would have paid for a new skycaddie and i'd still have been in pocket over the £69 you had to pay. Insurance is there for accidents such as this, you may never use it but it's good to know it's there. Worth thinking about for the future.
