Sky Sports Golf

Fair play, I'm in the same boat as about to cancel sky ports as just can't justify the price to watch a few hours at most of the majors now and then plus The Ryder Cup once every 2 years. Wouldn't possibly mind paying for just the golf channel if most of the half decent tournaments did not finish at 1 in the morning on a Sunday evening which is way past my bedtime. Haven't watched a football match in full for a very long time now.

Yeah I know what you mean, I only ever watch sky sports 4 so the other channels are redundant. I'll see if they get more golf on the actual channel in the months coming and hopefully they will reduce the cost in the future, or I'll just get the nowtv pass.

Golf fans are fortunate in a way. Tournament golf is only one facet of the game. There's loads of free, good quality, golf content on youtube (coaching, equipment, course vlogs etc) to keep a golf fan interested if they have a couple of hours spare.

Footy/Rugby/Cricket, maybe not so much.

Expect Now passes will remain unchanged, but I wonder if they gambled a bit they might actually increase revenues.

If they priced Thursday and Friday golf channel with a low price, then more people may think for a little outlay stick them on. If you have watched a bit of the build up over the first 2 days, then may be more likely to spend out for the weekend to see the conclusion. Could charge most for the Sunday.

Just read another article on it, which makes a good point. It suggests for anyone wanting sky to watch the golf but was put off by the high prices you can now get the original (basic) package with the one sports channel for £18 a month. So I suppose sky are thinking that they will get a lot more subscribers because of this.

Their current bundles do not reflect this but I suppose come the 18th it will be changed a reflect the differences.

Really good point. I probably watch around 80 or 90% of any golf related stuff on YouTube for free. The actual tournaments on TV are a very small percentage.
