I'm having a few performance issues with my SC5 and to be honest I'm loathe to send it back as its out of warranty and I'm pretty sure I'll get charged a hefty price to repair it. Its 5 years old and so getting towards the end of its life expectancy I'd have thought but has served me well

THIS ISN'T ABOUT WHETHER DMD'S ARE THE DEVILS WORK OR A INVALUABLE BIT OF KIT

Anyone got any suggestions. I'm not keen on the Garmin S1 watch so that is a non-starter. This is my preferred choice with the birthday on the horizion https://buy.garmin.com/shop/shop.do?cID=261&pID=85254&ra=true

Anyone got one or what else is out there and worth looking at. Have jsut forked out for annual SC subscription and chances are would have to fork out again with a new machine so looking for something with no subs.

The boys are ranting about the g3 for value for money, a few reviews already done and at £120 from tesco you could put the saving towards something else....

Like some new shoes!

google the G3 Homer , updates 3/4 times a year free , touch screen for yardages , no yearly fee , runs on AA batteries so no panic of forgeting to charge it .... i have the G5 but mate has the G3 . super job .. & i was anti DMD , well not anti but questioned reason/need for them, have changed my mind

Yes, I bought the G3 from Tesco Direct and frankly, I think its brilliant. I had a Skycaddie SG4 and the subscription is about due and I have got fed up with them wiping all my courses off to force me to pay. Have a look at the G3 Homer its a great tool!

I've got the G5 a great piece of kit. The rechargeable batteries last about 2 rounds. My Dad has just got the G6, now thats a beautiful thing. half the size of the G5.

Garmin is all free after the purchase aswell.

DMD's are the devil's work AND an invaluable piece of kit.

I've just bought the G3 as well on the Tesco offer. Tomorrow is the first useful time I'll be using it but I gave it a test run on my home course and it worked very well.

I think the G5 is the basically the same as the G3 but with a bigger screen (could be wrong) but if I had the choice and money didn't matter I'd look at the G6 as well. It just looks 'nicer' than the G3/G5 to me.

I'm another one who bought the G3 on the Tesco offer, and think it's a great piece of kit. I had a SC2.5 and was getting fed up of paying the subscription every year.

My Dad has the G6 and it's half the size of my G5, wish I'd waited 6 months :P
Think your right about the G3 and G5.
