Sitting on our flight and just got Cancelled .. whats the options

My son + 7 others have been sitting on the plane for 2 hrs and they have just cancelled the flight ...Wizz air cyprus - gatwick
The next wizz air flight isnt until next Tuesday.

Whats there options ??
1)Book any flight back and claim all the money back plus compensation ( flights thursay or friday 1 or 2 stops 450-700 Euros , direct saturday 1400 euros )
2)let wizz air sort it out

I've no direct experience of this but my gut tells me that you should give Wizz the opportunity to fix it first; if not it might hamper any attempt to subsequently claim any costs back.
 
I think Wizz are obliged to find you a reasonable alternative. As per BiM, see what they offer first of all. You can ultimately go route 1 but I wouldn't go there first off.

Simon Calder, travel guru, gave chapter and verse on this recently with all of the cancellations. Have a quick Google using his name and this subject.

Rubbish news by the way. I have every sympathy for you.
 
A few weeks ago my daughter's Wizz flight from Milan to Gatwick was cancelled. Wizz could not organise an alternative on the day and my daughter couldn't find one but she sorted a flight back to London for the next day. Wizz paid for the flight but they did not pay for her overnight hotel accommodation or the taxi to it and back to the airport.

Hopefully They are going to get put up in the Wizz air hotel , and have booked a separate flight Friday land saturday morning with a 8hr lay over in Paris.:eek:
Theres only 1 Wizz air representative for all 200 passengers

so you would advise to sort it all out when they get back

I would join the long queue for the rep, seek a response from them and try & get that in writing.
 
If Wizz have put them up they will take care of the bill, it is their responsibility. It is only when customers go on their own arranging alternatives that it becomes a grey area.

Yeh, if the airline put you there, they pay the bill. Got a lush 5* in Copenhagen with the wife thanks to BA canceling our flight home!
