Single figures :-)

What do you put your new handicap cut down to Amanda? Was it better course management or just good short game technique?

I'm just interested to know what that little extra thing is that makes all the difference.

It's really just continual progress. Dropped 2 shots last season, 4 the season before that and so on. I've had a handicap now for 4 years. Started at 29 and only ever had a single 0.1...

I do play a lot and practice a lot and have regular lessons. This week I had a session on the course on my own on Wed before the match on Thur and Fri before the comp on Sat. Was probably out 3-4 hours practicing different elements of the game and also working out better strategies on a couple of tricky holes. I definitely get the most out of those solo on course sessions where I can get much more done than playing social golf!

I have also been working on my mental approach having chatted recently to a NLP practitioner who also happens to play golf. It's proved useful - mainly in reviewing a competitive round and trying to learn from it each time.

Just read that back and I am such a golf geek :o

That makes two of us!

I guessed you had to put a lot of hard work in to get to that level, keep it up and keep us informed of your progress. Well done Amanda!

Ha, you're more obsessed than me! :D

Very impressed with the solitary 0.1!!!!

It's been coming as I'm playing really well...but I still get so nervous in qualifiers. Shot a gross 76 today and new handicap of 8.9. 14 fairways, 14 GIR and 36 putts (the putting remains the weak link)!

Chuffed to bits and never ever would have thought it possible. Can't thank my coach Paul Ashwell enough - top coach for sure

Happy Days

14 fairways (is that every fairway?) and 14 GIRs is outrageously good golf off your handicap. With good putting that is scratch golf level. Very, very well played!!!

Well done! And thoroughly deserved, good to see someone get just rewards for putting in the hours. :) I'll hope to join you later in the year, though work looks like it's managing to thwart my ambitions again this summer!

Do not EVER underestimate getting to single figures. I used to, but having come back to the game after a 3 year break its proving SOOOOO hard to get back there. Fantastic achievement, be proud because you deserve it!

Congratulations from me also Amanda. If I recall we joined the forum at about the same time - do you recall your h/cap then?
Anyway you have out done me on posts, and definitely on the golfing front also! Just two qualifiers from me (in last two months) in all that time.
Well done, good to see the dedication paying off, and more importantly how much you seem to enjoy it (most of the time!).

Yes it was every fairway and my best GIR ever - imagine if I was a good putter :-)

Thanks. Think I was off about 16 or so when I joined - not sure!
