Always enjoyed this on the way home, and always seemed very natural and love some of the features and the chemistry he had with the other presenters on it, that was until Jo Whiley started to co host it, real lack of any chemistry TBH and the show just didn't flow at all.

it appears he's now left..
anyone else listen to it and what where your thoughts?

Thought he was leaving at Xmas, with Jo taking an evening slot? Sara Cox is taking over the drivetime show

didn't realize they were still doing it, had to switch to Moray Firth Radio, it had gotten so bad. Lets hope its the midnight slot then they give her;)

Quite like Sara Cox, plays some good stuff.

JW is doing the 7-9pm slot. Mayo is apparently just away right now.....but you never know;)

Rumour is that he will be going to Smooth Radio when his contract is up. Change happens in December I believe.

I'm not a Jo Wiley fan full stop so chemistry or not, I turned over the moment she arrived. Bad decision by R2 to force the partnership as they messed with something that was working well.

I prefer Smashie and Nicey on Radio Quiet. Here's Bachman Turner Overdrive … let's rock!

T'was a good programme to listen to whilst driving.

IMO when these people are paid very large salaries to simply front the work of back office staff and play music by artists their egos grow out of proportion to their 'talent'/contribution and real worth. Then they believe their own publicity rather than being grateful for the luck of broadcasting on the 'national' radio.

It was announced last week and Radio Times are doing a feature on what's going on at Radio 2 with Mayo and Wiley not getting on, Evans leaving the breakfast show and listeners leaving in droves. Not the only source to ask the same questions

Doubt it very much that thing is an institution, radio 2 is garbage though anyway, some of the stuffy, middle of the road music they play is truly horrific.
Don't think it tries to be anything other than a middle of the road station and has a loyal (ish) following on the back of it. The only show I'd listen to is the Steve Wright afternoon show which is often quite entertaining. Yes the music is as middle of the road as the other shows but Wright and the team clearly enjoy themselves and it comes across

Personally I am disappointed that he feels the need to leave.

Used to have a good show before the snowflakes thought there needed to be a woman on prime time radio, it never really worked with Jo Whiley.

Thought Sara Cox should have been given the breakfast show once he chucked it in for more money at Virgin.

Steve Wright was a boring “jock” back in the day on Radio 1, nothing has changed 😂
Any station that plays Lady Tenerbaum or whatever they are called needs shutting down.

I listen to radio 2,quite a bit although never really liked Mayo, thought it was better with JW and no way does she deserve the dreadful abuse she has had to endure.

As long as they continue popmaster at 10.30 then the world will still turn

I think SM is really good chat-and-banter presenter, and JW is a really good serious-music presenter. I guess they hoped that putting them together would be the best of both worlds. However ... :(

I guess it's turned out like a car styled in Japan and engineered in Italy.

He's so sychphantic in his interviews too. Had to stop listening because of the way he interviewed his guests.

Just relieved that Simon Mayo isn't leaving the church as well.

Hello to Jason Isaacs.

One of the Harry Potter films I went to see, some wag yelled out "Hello Jason Isaacs" when he first appeared on screen. You could tell from the laughter who got the gag and who didn't. I had to explain it to Mrs Shark and Junior Shark.
