Should 5 -balls be allowed on a golf course ?

Why not, if it doesn't hold any one up?
I have played in a nine ball playing skins and we were still round in less than four hours. Not really allowed, but the course was quiet, so why not?

I dont see why not long as you are keeping up with play or letting people through if they come behind you. Socially a 5 ball is good for banter etc nothing worse than having to split 3&2.

We were playing in a better-ball open competition at our course on Saturday and it took almost five hours to get round, which was pretty horrific. All because there was a six ball out mid-morning so that one pair didn't have to miss out on a game.

If it was bad for our four, the three ball playing behind us must've been frustrated as hell.
