We all have our favourite shops that do food that is that little bit more special than other shops do it, don't we?

It can be anything from a pork pie to a cream bun but I love shops that produce products that keep you going back for more.

Last night I has the pleasure of sampling my favourite.............. a Steak Pie from R H McIntyre Butchers in Rothesay,Isle of Bute.

Their steak pie is just the bees knees, beautiful cuts of meat in a delicious sauce topped with a fantastic crust!!

Whenever I or any of my family are across there it's shipped back for consumption and I think I would gladly have this served up as my final supper!!:)

Luckily for me my Mother was on the Island at the weekend and had 2 of them served up for my old mans birthday tea last night and I managed to beat my brother in law to claiming the left over portion and it's been devoured for tea tonight.

I do hope someone is over again soon!! Craw?? Care to post me one?;)

What's everyone's favourites and where do they come from??

Bute is Dame Doon's favourite spot. Merangues and Victoria sponge cake at Ettrick Bay cafe are worth travelling for.
I'll remember the pies next visit Dodger.

Luca's Ice Cream from Musselburgh for me.

Don't miss out Doon, shop is up the Gallowgate just off the front......sampled a few of the cafe's fayre too!!

Luca's ice cream is bloody fantastic too!!

Fish and Chips - The Big Chip in Arnside - evrything you ever dreamed of for f and c!
Booths hot beef and caramelised onion baguette.

The Sweet Spot in Omagh, Sells old style sweets by the weight but I love the raspberry liquorice and the peanut butter Twix they get from the states

Can I vote for Morrisons bakery products. Love 'em.

My daughter suggested a new tag line for Morrisons, given that bakery is fattening....

"Morrisons - get fat for less".....

Sharwoods Green Label Chutney Sauce. Now no longer in production. This was deeeeeeelicious !!!!!!!!! with almost anything.
Cadburys Crunchie Nuggets. No longer in production, despite my e mail protestations. Maybe a good thing, as I'd be even fatter than i am now !

Steels Corner House, Cleethorpes- Best haddock and chips in the world (not an exaggeration)

Second to that pretty much all the decent fish & chip shops in North East Lincs and the surrounding local area (Caistor town square used to have an amazing one too).

Cookie's Crab Shop in Salthouse just outside Cromer, Norfolk - really good seafood platters and cheap as......well, prawns.

Spend my time between Edinburgh and Kirkcudbright, so I'm gonna nominate two in both places.

Paul Jones bakery in Kirkcudbright is pretty decent in general, but what raises them from being pretty decent to feckin magnificent is their individual steak pies, which in themselves are quality, but the wee piece of blackpudding they put in the middle of the pie makes my heart soar and my arteries weep.Worth every bite.

Cream O' Galloway ice cream is the daddy of all ice creams, trouncing the likes of luca's ( which I visit too often) and di rollos (which I think also beats lucas) Flavoursome goodness.

In Edina, two Leith places hold a special place in my heart...Los Cardos on Leith Walk serves up the finest quesadillas this side of the yucatan, the pulled pork one being top notch. They also do a magical Balmoral ( steak and haggis) Burrito.Basic place, tidy scran.

The Manna house do my favourite pastries, king of them all being the pain aux raisin.A Saturday morning treat.

Lawsons Butchers in Uphall does highland pork sausages that I simply can't live without.

Also, their lorne with black pudding in the middle is amazing. They should really call it 'hangover-be-gone'.

Fish 'n Chips... Been to the place in Anstruther reccommended by Rick Stein... Excellent! The Magpies in Whitby [Egon Ronay listed] also excellent! Special mentions to Tony's, Bells Road, Gorleston and the Dolphin in my home village of Harefield...

But by far the best I've ever had was in Amble, Northumberland [herself thinks it was called Charlie's] but you'll easily recognise it by the queue at the door [the other chippie's were empty in comparison]...

They do awesome sirloins as well.

It'll need to go some to beat the Cornerstone in Mallaig! Straight from the boat into the kitchen and onto your plate! I feel a road trip coming on during the October week with a tent and the weans. Rothesay for sirloin, and steak pie then off the North end and drive to Arisaig and have a fish'n'chips fest in Mallaig.
