Micosoft get up my nose. Last night as I shut down. I notice "downloading 1 of 20 updates. Ok normally no problem.

But switched on this morning and they have buggerd up all my setting. Has taken me over an hour to sort out. Just to get on the internet. Why oh why dont they give you the choice anymore.

Ok rant over:rant: .

In control panel you can turn off auto updates matey. Its when you install multiple updates that there is usually a problem, one by one usually works ok. But I agree, microsoft go about some things wrong.

why is it you often notice things getting worse after updates but you never notice things gettin any better?

I had 1 of 7 last night that took about 40 minutes to run before closing down last night. No idea what these were for but the PC is as slow and dog rough as usual today (its old mind like the user)

Hmmnn. Weird.

I have 3 windows PCs/laptops running. XP Vista and 7. Can't say I've been struck down with microsoft-itis ever.

Having said that, I am struggling with the internet just now, then again so is the iPad, so I blame BT.

Actually, I have 9 waiting (Vista), so I think I'll just click on that and go shopping, let's see what happens.

Oooooh, could be the end. "The end is nigh" - or is that Rangers?

A couple of years ago Microsoft squeezed out an update for SQL client service pack 4 iirc, even if your pc didnt have anything sql related whatsoever. Even those pcs without the software downloaded it automatically, it royally screwed the pc over and wouldnt even boot properly. We had hundreds of pcs out there and was a total pain in the rear at the time.

This happened to mine last night (don't know if it was sql related though) switched it on and the thing just froze at a random blank screen saying a disk was corrupt

More likely to be me that was corrupt :D
