SFA

Where is the bottom in England though? If we take AFC Wimbledon as an example - they started life at the bottom playing in the Combined Counties League Premier Division - this being the 9th tier of English football. And they played my local team Farnham Town FC. Their last home match was a local derby against Ash United (about 5 miles away). Crowd - 55.

Yeah that's a fair point. It's a long road up the leagues from there!

The "bottom" is where Darlington are now, step 5. The FA recently brought in a new rule stating that clubs going bust or "deemed" to be a new club can start no higher than step 5 in the English league system. Previously the likes of Leeds and Luton have just had big points deductions, that's where Darlo got stitched up.

Not sure how they would look at Rangers and Celtic. One thing I've learned is that the FA make the rules up as they go along, step 5 grounds can barely cope with 1000 travelling Darlo fans, imagine the chaos if the OF were dumped there. The FA would probably slot them into the championship or something, special dispensation and all that.

BBC probably would.

People go on about the numbers The Old Firm bring to town and the lost revenue.Generally though, it's cancelled out by the extra police costs they require.A brief look at figures this season shows that the missing Newco hasn't really affected anyones ( excluding Celtc) attendance figures?

I do realise though, my plan is flawed by a number of obsticles

Clubs don't even pay a fraction of what it costs to Police Scottish Football. If they did no club in Scotland would be in existence.

I think the health of Scottish football is easy to resolve.

Celtic & The Rangers leave.
Two professional leagues,both 14 teams.
Below that, regional north/south leagues, 3 promoted, one from each league, second place from each league in play off
Renegotiate TV deal. One live game Friday night, one live game Monday night.Everything else, Saturday 3pm.
Bring back safe standing
Salary cap
Bring back reserve/U 21 league ( worst thing thats happened to Scottish football)
Regional academies for u16's, paid for by clubs in each region, then a 'draft' each year.
outlaw 4-5-1

And more importantly. The one you left out, change the seasons around so we play summer football!!!!!!!!

Just to add to attendance fiigures, according to the SPL website, the SPL total attendance exc Celtic and Rangers for last season was 1'313'072. Celtic and Rangers combined 1'847'342 which for easy maths is 534'270 more than everyone else combined.

How do you sell that to investors and telly bosses and expected to be as good or better than whats there currently.

All your glory hunter fans will not travel from Dundee, Edinburgh, Motherwell, Ayr etc to see a Celtic Southampton or Rangers Norwich game. A good percentage of these glory hunters will start going to watch a local team to get their fitba fix.

As McLeish said when at Motherwell, more fans leave Motherwell on a bus every Saturday to watch the Old Firm than head to Fir Park. That is a disgrace and I'm positive it'll be the same in Ayr, Kilmarnock and Perth etc.

90% of the Old Firm fans giro's wouldn't stretch to a cross border raid by the time you factor in the cost of buckie, strongbow and a packet of golden virginia!

Crawford,I thought you were better than some of the utter tripe you have posted in your last 2 posts.

:whoo:

Post 45 100% true. Post 46 tongue firmly in cheek! Surprised the artful one has bit at such a poor bait!

They will if their team is struggling in England ( or wherever ). Think back to periods when one or other of the OF were struggling, their gates plummeted.
Glory hunters the pair of them!

That fans won't travel to watch games v Soton or Norwich and will drift back to watch their local teams.

Tripe,utter tripe.

So when FD admits that she's taken in a couple of Hibs games because The Rangers are in 3rd division its tripe is it? Fact is people will still want the occasional fitbaw fix! FACT!

I have taken the wee man to St Mirren Park because its on my door step. FACT.

Right so the fact that you have been to St Mirren and FD has been to see Hibs mean that fans are going to flock from going to see either of the OF to watching other teams right?

The argument you have given seems more about floating football supporters going anywhere for a fix not deserting either Rangers or Celtic after going to see them week in week out.

I only get a max of half a dozen games a year due to golf or the fact the games are not appealing for me but I also enjoy, like the 2 examples given, a game of football, hell I'm heading to watch 1860 in May but if Celtic were part of a better product that included Brighton,Sunderland etc I actually think I may go back to being a season book holder.

Out of interest I suppose you frequent Pittodrie do you?

No?

Yes,tripe it is.

Who mentioned flock??? You chose to skirt and manipulate arguments. Glad to see you also out yourself as the typical glory hunter Old Firm fan. All mouth and no real backing.

NEXT!

SEEMINGLY (according to Sky Sports ) The Blue-Square League have offered to take The Rangers into their league -Green considering this option apparently.

Everybody sing along......

Go on now, go, walk out the door,
just turn around now 'Cause you're not welcome anymore
Weren't you the one, who tried to break me with goodbye
Did you think I'd crumble? Did you think I'd lay down and die?

Superb Crawford,no skirting from me but I note no reply to my question but I'll let that go as I know the answer is no.

Fantasy Island for your idea that folk will head back to supporting the wee teams,it is as far fetched as Scotland flourishing without the Old Firm.

I didn't say they would support the wee teams. Read and digest what I wrote. Its simple. Fans will always go and watch football. You won't get 40k Celtic fans wanting to go to Blackburn or London. FACT.

A lot of these fans will still want to take in a game. If that game is Rob Roy V Arthurlie at junior level or Ayr United V Morton or St Johnstone Aberdeen some fans of football, will take in a game. That is life.

Its not rocket science. I'm not saying Rangers or Celtic fans will turn into St Mirren fans overnight. I'm saying some fans will go and watch a game local instead of travelling to London or Manchester or Wigan. Just like you admit to. You pick and chose your games. Just like I take my 6 year old to St Mirren Park. How hard a concept is that to grasp????

Errrr what difference would those teams make?you don't get 40k travelling to Dundee!

In your original post you said that sone OF fans would stop going. They wouldn't,a fresh scene would see more heading to watch.
