I'm on the hunt for an upgrade to my driver. It's a Callaway, so I'm after a Callaway, I like the adjustability. This used to be fairly easy. Dig about on e bay, find a few, get them on a watch list and wait for the right price point. Not anymore. Loads on e bay, but the majority are being sold by second hand dealer sites who have fixed prices. I'm guessing that golfers are selling to them, coz they are offering what they want, but then these places bump up the price and can just wait till they get a bite. This means that the second hand market is now dominated by these clever thieves, and bargins are nowhere to be had.

Clever thieves is a bit strong.

Try your local club pro?

When I have traded in clubs, they get a trade offer from GCFC. Deal done and no hanging on to second hand stuff. Trade price and off their books before the day is out.

Clever business I say.

As with any second hand stuff... how much are you saving on new? It that good based on condition? Do you want it?

The dealers might have a certain control on pricing, but you avoid the risks of scammers/counterfeiters on ebay/Facebook. But if they over charge, they don't shift it.

You used to have more scope for a lucky bargain on ebay, but even private sellers are wiser now.

Clever thieves is an absurd statement.

People moving away from eBay because of the changes made which offer little seller benefits. From 4th Feb further changes comes which makes selling on there less appealing. Golfclubs4cash, Replay Golf (I’m sure there are others) offer a great service in my opinion.

Why limit yourself to Callaway? Pretty much every driver now has loads of adjustability.

I’ve bought from GC4C and they are really good and efficient.

However, I got some prices online for some clubs (sent lots of photos) and went to trade in at the Warrington store where the guy told me the online prices don’t matter and he’d have to take a look. He then offered considerably less than what was quoted. Not great service and ended up selling on eBay as he wouldn’t budge.

I find the staff at the Warrington store a bit ‘Alpha’ and not approachable in the slightest.

I enjoy buying and trying second hand clubs, selling them on if they’re no good (for me). You can find bargains on marketplace and gumtree if you know what you’re looking for. I’d probably be a bit nervous spending more than a couple of hundred on there though.

As for eBay, I guess because when you list an item it suggests what it’s worth based on previous sales, even the most unaware seller will be listing for the higher prices now.

I’m after a ping g430 10k max driver, they’re still going for top dollar, but I’m in no rush, I’ll keep checking eBay for a bargain, sometimes the ones which allow offers can result in a deal being struck.

Those new conditions for sellers (on ebay) are gonna chase a few people away, getting paid 2 days after the tracked delivery is confirmed.
Madness.

Sometimes the tracking link on ebay doesn't even work
I've sold clubs in past where I've received feedback, seller happy, yet the tracking still doesn't show as delivered.

And you'll be waiting 14 days from the date of sale to get your money..........

I've found the reverse. In fact been told and experienced a better price in person. Suppose it takes the risk away when they can see the club.

Had really good prices and some surprisingly low.

Definitely a fair description of Warrington as 'Alpha' though.

I have found Ebay to be superb value as a buyer and as a seller. I think that is because I must be a cleverer thief than the business traders.
Far more favourable for me to sell after the recent changes. Looking forward to a good year.

You can see a recent purchase of mine on two posts in I Bought Today.

Here is the same set on offer from a trader. (I paid about 12% of this price for mine and that includes factoring-in petrol money to collect)

Mine have as-new grips, a set of iron covers, a bonus Wilson 1-iron and a superb condition Wilson bag. A lot more for a lot less.
There is a temptation for me to sell mine - but I will be able to resist for several years. I will enjoy playing golf with them.

Plenty of great bargains to be had on Ebay - but you need to be diligent and patient.

If you have something specific in mind and you want it in the next two weeks - little point in restricting yourself to Ebay.

I'm not a clever thief, by the way. I'm an astute wealth creator - or so I am told by the media.

My experience with Golf clubs for Cash has overall been good my current irons come from them.
I have bought several sets over the years and when there has been a problem they have listened and offer acceptable solutions.

As already mentioned 15% off until the end of today for over £150 items.
