Second Again !

I'm fed up of this. I had the round of my life on Sunday. 79 in a major giving me a net 65. A sure fire winning score at ours. Not on Sunday. I got a sickening e mail of the result at 6.30pm. A 63 was in. The bloke had the back nine of his life, with 3 birdies!!!! This is my second, second place in this major. Two years ago I came in with a 69 and finished second. I really thought I'd done it this time.

Can totally relate.

In my second summer of golf I came second in a board comp stableford off the blues. I even had a blob on the 2nd but missed out by a point. I had a crazy day and got a handy cut.

The following weekend was the club champs. I can second in the handicap trophy by one shot, despite a birdie on the last. Both times I had cracking rounds but missed out. Could only have been worse if it was by countback (which I may have have won it by of course).

That's competition golf, we can't control the actions of others like we do in different sports. It just takes someone to decide if they want to play that day or not, that could be the difference between you winning or losing.

Ive won twice in my golfing life in comps.


Once off 19 then the next time was off 8 when I shot lowest gross. Twice in 9 years. :rofl:

I've got a board comp coming up this weekend and I've come second by 1 point for the last two years.
