Just wondering if anyone has played seaton carew as i'm off to play there on monday for the first time and it's going to be my first time playing a links course so just wondering what to expect.

You will enjoy it, I certainly did.It has a fair few drab,straight away holes but also has some really good holes too with the final 3/4 being the pick of the bunch.
Has 22 holes that are used in I think it is 3 course loops.

I played it about 4 years ago. Try to ignore the industrial scenery near the course and you'll enjoy it. It was in excellent condition the day i played but was blowing a gale.

Aye it's got 3 course layouts, were playing the old course.
According the website the last 4 holes are known as the 4 hardest on the course but also the best.
I'm used to the industrial scenery as i'm from darlington and grown up with it and actually quite like it in a strange way.
I just hope this wind dies down abit or it's going to make it really tough i reckon.

Yeah no problem, weather is looking good and can't wait to play on proper greens for the first time in about 8 weeks and i just found out our green fee includes a bacon sarnie and a cuppa so thats a bonus.

Seatons a nice course fella, it's only a couple of minutes away from me. Greens are usually in very good nick and run true. Just make sure you keep to the fairways cos you wont get your ball back from some of the rough there! As others have said the last 4 holes are the3 pick of hte bunch, with the 200+ yd Par 3 15th playing VERY long if the wind is against.

Well just got back from my first outing on a links course and i loved it. Only ended up being 2 of us playing after 2 work mates had to pull out due to being ill. Everyone there was really friendly and helpfull.
The course was in pretty good condition, there was a couple of bunkers that had standing water in and there was a couple of areas that were GUR but it's nice to see they were reapairing them ready for the better weather. The greens were in good condition for this time of year and were very true but some of them have some serious slopes in which i'm not that used to as the local courses i play have mainly flat'ish greens with small slopes and bumps but it deffintley makes it alot more intresting and i putted well on them and only having on 3 putt all round.
You deffintley need to keep out of the rough on here because even if you find your ball in some places it's knee deep and your more than likely have a big mound to hit over or play from a severe slope. Even if you find the fairway you still have mounds, humps and hollows to navigate and some seriously steep bunkers to avoid around the greens. You deffintley have to ignore the flag completley on some holes as anything abit off target can be gathered by a slope and spewed straight into a 6ft deep greenside bunker.
All in all though i didn't find it too hard a course even though it was my first time playing there and i didn't hit my drives all that well. Think i must have had to hit 3 off the tee on atleast 3 holes but still managed to go round in 99 gross so i'm pretty happy with that.
It's deffintley worth a visit and can't wait to play it later in the year when the course is in top condition and maybe try one of the other course layouts which is ment to be even more of a test than the old course we played.
And i'm deffintley now a big fan of playing links style courses as i love the way you have to try play diffrent shots and take it account all the little humps and hollows that can send your ball scurrying off 100 yards in the wrong direction! I may have had a diffrent view if the wind had been blowing like it was yesterday as it would have been alot harder.
