Search function

Cheers wolfie, but the issue is with how IE8 wants to display the results rather than the actual search itself.

I'll have a muddle about with the settings and see what happens though :)

I get the same problem. It's like there's a white box over the results, and the results are just visible on the right hand side but squeezed to the edge of the text box. Basically unusable.

Looks like it might be a job for the fat controller. Having looked into it a bit, there is a history of issues between vb4 and ie8, but that seems to be image related. I can't find any info on how to fix it. Do you have another back up browser such as Ff or chrome?

Alas IE has been lax over many years when it comes to rendering code, I say lax, but it's altogether too forgiving. It generally renders naff code and espouses lazy development. However, since HTML5 and other technologies have hit the mainstream M$ have tightened up IE, however IE8 is now tripping up on good code that renders fine in the like of Firefox, Chrome, Opera, etc. vB4 code is one such example. Interesting to note that not all incidences of IE8 have issues which suggests there are other M$ associated factors (as IE is integral to the OS who knows what they may be).

It's possible that some vB core code has an issue with IE8 (or vice versa), and therefore pretty much out of our hands, or some templates. I know on other IPC vB4 forums much tweaking and recoding of templates has been done with the (almost) inevitable 'wheels falling of elsewhere' in the process. pleasing all browsers with a single unified code should be easy if the code is fully compliant, but ne'er seems to be the case. :(

At this stage I can only recommend users give another browser a whirl, as has been suggested, particularly Firefox or Chrome. Not an ideal solution but all we can offer at this time I'm afraid.

Have you tried clicking the compatibility button? It's the one that looks like a ripped piece of paper just to the right of the address bar.

It probably won't make a difference, but it's worked for me occasionally in the past.

Always worth a try (and something I forget and neglect to mention not being an IE user, my bad

).

However, just had word from the Men from the Ministry and they've tweaked the template a tad which, hopefully, will help with the search results page shizzle.

Have you set the search parameters? if you go through the settings panel, you can set your default search parameters, ie length of time you wish to search over. The OP's problem was that there were several pages of results, but none were showing. It sounds as though your problem is that no results are being returned, which sounds like a "time" issue....
