Scotty Cameron Putters - Are they Made Of Platinum?

I always just believe if it is the putter for you then you should probably just buy it, the money would only disappear elsewhere anyway.

Just having a casual ebay research browse, for some reason one of last years normal ones has been bid up to 245 already. First result of my search, wouldn't have expected that to break 200-210 but it might be a couple of his mates hoying bids in to get the price up

I have a Scotty. I bought it as a special treat for myself. It is a really quality item and I'm glad I bought it. I putt well with it and it gives me confidence when I use it. It looks and feels great. It is, along with some Quad Hi-Fi gear, probably the "best" thing of its kind that I own. Everything else I have is pretty mundane, mediocre or old (I drive a Citroen C4, wear a Lorus watch, and have a cheap Samsung (non-smart) phone). Having one nice thing, relating to my main hobby, which I enjoy using, and which on the wider scheme wasn't that expensive, doesn't seem like too much of an extravagance.

It sells at that price because, in the first place, it's a Scotty Cameron and they will always demand higher prices.
As to whether they are worth that extra money is entirely down to the person who buys it.
IMHO they are overpriced copies of other designs and sell on their brand name but others would argue that they work for them and are worth the money. Each to their own.
ive often viewed Scotty putters like Apple iPhones, and the above text could easily be describing an iPhone too ... very expensive, keeps prices high for no reason other than trying to be a premium product, many others do the same thing for a lot less, fanatical following, often seen to copy others.

Putters are very personal though, but let's be honest they are just a lump of metal on a stick :)

I have found a putter I really like and want to buy one. It is called the Scotty Cameron Golo 6 and is very nice.

Unfortunately, they are £250+.

There is no way I would spend that sort of money. It is unjustifiable.

I am sure plenty of you think it is perfectly reasonable - why?

Same could be said of the latest drivers of course but in both cases, the club doesn't do the work and it simply cannot make enough of a difference to warrant that kind of spend.

That aside, anyone want to sell me one for £50?

I've aways thought they are overpriced. It's just where they set themselves in the market though, all part of the perceived value.

Ive a few scotties and didn't pay anything like £250 for any of them.

if the OP is interested Inverness Golf club have 2 Futura X putters SH, for £180 and both are in pretty good condition.. almost like new.

they have an ebay page i think

I couldnt bring myself to part with my cash for one.

How much did your driver cost?

How many putts do you take per round vs drives?

I will admit freely here my driver was about £50 more than my putter. Both were worth parting cash for but I would have happily paid more for my putter. I use it 3 times more per round and its been in the bag for two years longer.

My putter is much modified. I no longer have a clue what it cost. Certainly north of 300. But so what, I love it as it is, and won't be changing it any time soon. May be not ever. How much is that worth?

Bought a Futura X5 as soon as they came out in late 2014. Best £250 I have spent on golf equipment in a long time. It replaced my original 2 ball that had been in my bag for over 10 years.

Only thing wrong was the midsize grip that it came with. Chopped that off and replaced it with a normal sized lamkin crossline putter grip, the original red one felt like a baseball bat.

I bought a Scotty about 4 or 5 years ago had it in the bag for six months and replaced it with an Odyssey #7. Several putters later, two putting lessons and the Dave Pelz putting book it is now in the bag and I am now confident over 3 to 4 foot putts.

It gives me immediate feedback, a consistent strike and a tempo that I cant get with the others. I was amazed and would not have believed it...but the evidence is in the stats....only 2 three putts in the last 6 rounds whereas before it was that per round at least. I'm not saying that it is all the putter because it isn't but the combination have worked very well for me and considering getting the new Newport 2 at 280 quid.....but will have to wait till i get back the the UK as they are 470 quid here! And yes people buy them at that price! So I might get a couple and bring them back! ;)

I get confused by how many different models there are of them, even with say a Newport range, there's 2 or more submodels, why?

You look up Newport then find Newport 2, 1.5, 2.5, Studio Newport, Select Newport and on it goes....they all look the bleedin' same

I think that the number is something to do with the style of the neck regarding it being straight or what kind of bend it has??

I bought a silly scotty cameron. I loved the look of it and thought why not. I doubt I will sell it and I putt great with it. People may think it's silly to spend a certain amount of money on a putter but it's mine so who cares!
