Yes there are some good putter at 50% and lower than that price however I have always been a bit of a Scotty Cameron nut as I like how they were the first putter to come along and be a bit more personal and different with the headcovers, pivot tools etc. I've owned a few Scotty Cameron putters however the one I currently have I have been using for about 12 years and it cost me £230 originally, it then got stolen and I changed to a couple different putters before finally getting the same one I had before for £130 so I don't think I'd ever change it.
So I guess its a personal preference, if you like the putter, the way it feels and sits and you putt well with it then I guess the £250 is justified but otherwise you may find a putter for much less that you prefer, putting is all a bit of state of mind and everyone's tastes are different as to shape, brand, material etc. That being said I would recommend Scotty Cameron's to anyone but that doesn't mean they will like it.
Also have a look at some of the scotty Cameron tour putters and headcovers, they go for thousands... yes hundreds and thousands just for a headcover.
