I think what DfT is getting at is that if you were to decide whether golf as a leisure activity fell into the profile of a typical NO voter or a typical YES voter then you might expect it to be a NO voter sport. But in Scotland it crosses all boundaries - as the poll (may) show. Of course for all we know the poll here of voters might well be split down some demographic - but that we cannot see.

I'm not convinced there is such a thing as a typical YES or NO voter. Despite some rather disparaging comments elsewhere from a few yes-inclined individuals.

On note of social interest.
It shows golf in Scotland is much more for 'the people', it crosses all social, class, creed and sexual boundaries.
I have a hunch that the OP posted this thread with the hope of seeing massive support for the NO's

You definitely weren't a policeman were you DfT, or not a very succesful one if you were!

I honestly thought that given the volume of the YES's, it would come out in favour of them. I posted it because it seems popular at the moment to run a poll with a tiny sample size, and try and extrapolate to the whole nation from that.

Oh, and as an accountant, because I get a hard on for numbers and stats.

I think the most interesting thing so far, is that while the people with a vote are very close ( 12 yes's v 13 no's), it's much more biased for those not recieeving a vote, witha clear majority for no's!

Absolutely agree - I think you could have two individuals of identical 'demographic' - one would vote YES the other NO for some reason that no polling segmentation of profiling would ever pick up and would even include in profiling (one votes YES cos some English guy had a fling with his granny back in the 50s and she liked it, the other NO because same thing happened to his granny and she didn't or something daft like that )

Hardly surprising I'd have thought that folks outside of Scotland would vote NO to keep the union and avoid all the hassle. Mind you there is going to be a load of hassle after a NO down here in any case.

I'm sure they will, arguably 'demonstrating hypocritically selfish motives' from one point of view and 'fighting for a fairer deal for all Scots' from the other. If it is a Yes, then I can see, after a period of frenzied activity, a reduction in the popularity of SNP as the 'major goal' would have been achieved! Though it might have, by then, established itself as a natural government for those that fear Labour.

That was my point, this vote is not for the SNP . It's for home rule for Scotland the same as other Commonwealth countries have.

The other countries were part of the Commonwealth. Scotland is part of GB and UK. Not really comparable.
