Scottish independence and The Open

I would just like to say that this has been one of the most factually inaccurate and pointless threads I've read in a long time. I've enjoyed it very much.

@StrangelyBrown: Congrats on your fantastic Blackadder- inspired username.

Stangely Brown wasn't Black Adder, the avatar is misleading. He was one of the school boy names called from the register when Rowan Atkinson was being a teacher in a sketch.

Interesting: I'm pretty sure George (Hugh Laurie) makes mention of an old school friend of his called Strangely Brown in the final episode of Blackadder Goes Forth. Maybe it's a Footlights in-gag.

I think you are correct in the Black Adder reference, but it is pre dated by the sketch, which was used in the secret policemans ball (proably), but before that was on the Rowan Atkinson live in Belfast LP.

Both you and Parmo might want to do some reading on the causes of the Worldwide recession before spouting your semi zenophobic and comically innacurate ramblings on the internet.

lol where is that tiny fiddle I need to play when the sudden fried chip on the shoulder appears.

things the tourist needs to know:

as with almost everything else, the Romans invented bagpipes - and bad cess to them

haggis were invented when the thrifty (very pc that!) Scottish farmer sold everything edible from his sheep then realised he had nothing left for himself.

and the Irish invented the kilt, which were (yuk, yuk) strangely brown

You are all indeed correct. Strangely Brown was a school chum mentioned by George in the 4th series, when he was reminiscing about his friends that had died. My first attempt at an avatar was Blackadder from that series with a pair of underpants on his head and two pencils up his nose. Unfortunately this picture was too large to use and my attempts at cropping it were amateurish at best, hence why I've got Edmund from the second series.

Anyhow, I'm glad to be here. Play well folks :)

Where's Thommo....??!! :) ;)

I own Scotland and there will never be a British Open played here.

However, we will hold the OPEN every now and then.

So, you were the winner of the Mickey Mouse outfit I lost out to on eBay..... ;)

If you lost out why did you sell the thing in the first place. :p Were you wanting to win it.

Yeah, I was hoping it was West Ham - evidently it wasn't..
