Watch out for those phone calls, emails, letters, street people who are here today and gone tomorrow.
Unless secure, don't lose sight of your belongings.
Don't carry much cash.
Can happen just like that.

Latest scams (ageuk.org.uk)

Some others I've come across but won't be lured include Feng Shui, meditation and mindfulness centres.

I FELL FOR ONE RECENTLY. A WOMAN SENT NE NAKED PICTURES OF HERSELF IN POSES ALONG WITH CLOSE UPS OF HER UNMENTIONABLES. SHE WAS OFFERING AN IPHONE 14 PRO IN EXCHANGE FOR SEXUAL FAVOURS. I AM ESPECIALLY BOTHERED BECAUSE IT TURNED OUT TO BE AN IPHONE 6 AND OBVIOUSLY SOMETHING'S WRONG WITH IT. IT'S SUPER SLOW AND THE CAPS LOCK IS STUCK ON.

Couple of girls working a scam on single men at local supermarkets to me. They get you into your car and whilst one has sex with you on the front seat the other is in the back nicking your wallet from your jacket. I've got caught two weeks ago, last Tuesday, yesterday, this morning and will probably fall for it again sometime this weekend.

Well, tell me something that is NOT a scam.
Oh, but you will say golf lessons.
Biggest scam in sport IMO.

Did someone say they paid £400 for a 3 hour zen golf lesson??
Zen itself is a scam.

Talking of scams and scammers - Elizabeth Holmes (Theranos CEO in USA) is due for sentencing today. She duped many investors out of millions of dollars.

I've heard of another Elizabeth in this country whose failure caused serious financial damage. Not even been arrested or charged, though.

Paying for correct professional knowledge isnt a scam.

How about a new and revolutionary driver every year from the same company who promised the same 12 months before?
Last time I bought a golf club was 20 years ago.
I was offered a newish looking Taylor Made driver for £30.
Later I found out it was an illegal, but I still use it.
Going back further I bought a set of Ping Eye 2 irons. Soon after they made them illegal, too.
Lessons learned.

After I started playing golf again in the 1980's I bought a cheap paperback called The Golf Secret by a guy called Doctor Murray.
I doubt if he had ever picked up a club. He was working it all off photographs of top players.
Then I saw an ad in GM for 'The Magic Move. I didn't send off for it because by then Jack Nicklaus had remarked there is no such thing as secrets or magic moves in golf.
There is only hard work and dedication.
BTW, the 1st was the left shoulder, the 2nd the nose, and not a move at all.

Still get shocked when I hear about people who put their savings into Ponzi schemes.
If it sounds too good to be true, then it is too good to be true.

Surely the biggest scam out there is the cosmetics industry?

It’s clear that the golf industry has learned from cosmetics companies.

Make outlandish claims, make up words and make it sound like science and people just lap it up.

Billion dollar scam.

Surely not. Those adverts for perfumes do a brilliant job about telling you how the product smells and allowing you to make an informed choice about your chosen aroma.
