Has anyone from UK sent anything to Scotty Cameron’s custom shop for restoration recently that could answer some questions, I get the costs involved are a bit pricey just trying to weigh everything up as it’s for a putter I’ve had for 20 year, wouldn’t mind paying to get it properly restored/authenticated.

What roughly were the shipping costs if removing shaft/grip and just sending the head and would I be hit with any further tax/customs charges when it’s posted back?

It is a little battered with a few small chips around the head and mark on the milling/face, could they knock it back for too much damage?

I did try to get some info from them directly but no reply, I’ve read elsewhere folk having problems from UK/ire

chose the Element 29 finish and it was superb in all respects and the interaction with the guys at the Putter Lounge was nothing short of first class.

Then, when i got it back, I sent it off to Titleist in the UK to be reshafted...and the muppets dropped it on a stone floor and dented it, and refused to accept that it was undamaged when initially sent to them.

There should be no tax/import charges on a repair, but you stated you've not heard back from them, so that would be enough for me not to bother.

There will be plenty of UK options with a bit of research.

That can be a difficult discussion with customs and in a battle between you and customs, there is only one winner. It looks to them like someone trying to dodge the system. I'd be factoring in charges just in case. To the OP, you would have to pay customs clearance costs, even if customs did not charge duty or vat.

They get enough from me, so I'd welcome the fight

I have sent multiple watches for repair and never had an issue. It's all about the paperwork being in order., but nothing to be frightened of.

If I was being pedantic, you haven’t actually answered his question so why should he acknowledge you? He has asked about Scotty Cameron in the US and you mentioned a completely different company in the UK.

You can send by UPS protected for about £60 and then it’s about £50 for them to send back

You're being just as pedantic because his question was about customs fees and I was offering him a workaround.

Maybe but when someone asks a question and gets helpful replies then doesn't acknowledge them, makes you wonder why people bother. It's simple manners, maybe something that escapes you.

But thanks, you and everyone else. I’ve actually used Chris Finch a lot over the years who’s UK based like you say, he does a great job on refurbs with scottys in particular, I’m just thinking it may be worth paying the £££ to have it officially done type thing
