so, seen the SC on DG for £129, on sale from £199. seriously considering after a toss up between laster and gps (dont worry, its not a 'which is better post!!)
user of the 2.5, is there a cross-hair marker on the screen that you can move around on the hole for distances?
for example, dog leg left par 5. want to get 3rd shot onto the dogleg for a wedge onto the green. does it have this facility?

No sure about the ins and outs of what it does and doesnt but sure they were on sale for £99 last month a couple of places but they've obviously cranked them back up for crimbo.

yes i have one you get a clip which can go around your strap on your trollet or bag
but you can buy a mount off sky caddie and it clips on trolley so in front of you all the time

ive just got it clipped on side of bag

When I had mine I used the belt clip to attach it to the bag.

As someone else pointed out there is a cross you can move on the green view, but there isn't one for moving to the corner of a dogleg etc.
I'm fairly sure you can set it so that layup distances appear in the list of targets though, so it'll tell you how far you need to go to leave 100 or 125 for example.

ah, right, so the x-hair is only for the green......not so good. wanted it so i know how far to hit onto doglegs etc

I was looking at a number of GPS units a few years ago in the end I went for the Skycaddie 2.5. Have found it really useful. I attach it to the trolley bag with the supplied clip, i brought mine for £160 so its a bargain at the moment.

I use one and it's great when you play a different course little bit easier to use than a strokesaver the only downside some would say is the sub each year but it doesn't bother me

Very easy to use, lay up distances, distances to hazards. Has a function to record your score as you go, don't have to use but always good to look back at stats if your into that.

never used them before, so wasnt really on my list of places to look!
says its weather proof......how true is this with water? rain water, not throw-it-in-a-lake water!!

My mate uses them all the time for clothing ,he said there good guys to deal with, hope it works well for you.

Will be fine in rain - mine is! Set your preferred lay up distances and it'll give you a yardage to that. One of the most useful features other than the obvious.
